We've only been to Mexico once (Riviera Maya) and absolutely loved it! We found it to be more laid back than Florida but the beaches were a little rocky and not close to our room.

Now I've been offered a one bedroom unit at Pueblo Bonita in Pablo San Lucas in January. I specifically didn't want an AI because we like going off the property to explore and I feel AI fees are high, especially if you're not taking advantage of them. So can anybody tell me, where did you wander to in Cabo San Lucas for fun and also dining? We'd also like to bring a few groceries back to the condo, so please tell me where you purchased those as well. How did you like the beach? Do they have a nice pool? Any and all details would be welcome!:whoopie:

Pueblo Bonito

It's Pueblo Bonito in Cabo San Lucas. There are 4 of them there, 3 being timeshare and 1 a holistic resort. They are all wonderful my favorite being Sunset Beach to which I have been going for 6 years, at least once a year but many times twice.

Cabo

:whoopie: Nessie I believe you are the one I sent an email to. If not here is some info
For places to eat go to www.tripadvisor.com and look up the Baja forum. Once there type in "Trappers List" he just put out a new list of restaurants all over cabo. For something different take a day trip to Todos Santos, and also San Jose del Cabo. If you don't want to spend a lot of time lounging, which a lot of us do, take an overnight trip to La Paz you can do it in a day but I don't recommend you drive at night as animals are free range and a lot of people have been killed in accidents at night. Another fun place is Cerritos Beach which is on the same highway you will take to Todos Santos

An of course take a day and explore downtown Cabo, but go on the back streets if you want better deals. While you are doing that around the corner from the Mar de Cortez hotel is a place called Gordo Lele's which has the best carne asada tacos in all of Cabo, nothing fancy but great food.

That should just about take up your week, if you are going for two let me know.

Karen may chime in only because she goes to Cabo every August, oops she may be there now :whoopie:

We leave Monday, Aug. 10, and can't wait to get there.:) There is quite a lot of Cabo information in the sticky post at the top of the Mexico forum here.See post #4 in the thread. There's even a video you can watch about the area and all kinds of links about groceries and restaurants.

There are currently some great RCI offers on Last Minute Vacations at the Pueblo Bonitos in Cabo so it's a great time to go.

I just re-read the original post and see that the poster is going in January. If going to the Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos (also referred to as the Blanco), it is on Medano Beach and is next door to Pueblo Bonito Rose. Pueblo
Bonito Sunset Beach is the other timeshare and it is on the Pacific side. Next to it is the hotel Pacifica. Here's the company website. Take a look at all the properties. You
can also arrange for airport transportation from the website if you decide not to rent a car.

When you stay at one of the Pueblo Bonitos, you can use the facilities at all of them and you can charge
restaurant bills to your room. There is a free shuttle between the Rose and Sunset Beach. The Rose and
the Blanco are both within easy walking distance to town.

Interactive map of Cabo

Here is a great map of Cabo. Just hold down your mouse and you can move it in any direction. When you first open it, you see a couple of hotels on Medano Beach that are named. Find the one that says "ME" Put your mouse over the one to the right of that one and that's the Pueblo Bonito Blanco. Next to it on the right is the Rose.

You can zoom in for a closer look, too. To find the Sunset Beach move the map to the left, past the marina, and keep going past Playa Grande, Hotel Finisterra, and Capella Pedregal. Keep going past the houses and you'll
see Sunset Beach.

Gordo Lele's Taco stand is run by Javier who has become quite popular for his Beatles Serenades. He's actually not too bad. The tacos are great and the entertainment is cool. I'll be there this Saturday and will for sure stop by sometime during the week. Check him out on youtube...he's become a Cabo icon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJEXxXAqjxE&feature=related

Karen...ever been?

Gordo's

Karen you should stop by and see Javier and have some great tacos for lunch. :whoopie:

He is definitely on our list of things we want to do on this trip.

I'm so happy--I found the location of Gordo Le Le's on that interactive map linked in the post above. If you find Giggling Marlin downtown and zoom in as far as possible, Gordo LeLe is just a little over a block to the northwest. Yippee!:whoopie:

Great interactive map! I found my resort, Walmart/Sam's Club and of course Gordo Lele's !!!!!!!!

Karen, if I see you at Gordo Lele's, my treat! Safe Travels! :D

Ok time to start packing, got a plane to catch in the morning!

Thanks, Karen, for the interactive map! I did find Gordo Lele's and he has been mentioned many times on TripAdvisor as well. I appreciate good restaurant suggestions because, you know....so many restaurants, so little time! I like to sample a wide variety of restaurants from inexpensive street vendors to fine dining with linen napkins. I don't want to have to weed out the clunkers!

The last time we were in Mexico we never did find a "good" diner style breakfast, i.e. crispy hashbrowns (tator tot style 'McHashbrowns' do not fit the bill!) I may just buy some la leche for my condo fridge and bring some cereal from home. Thanks for all the replies.

Does anyone think an excursion to Land's End or Lover's Beach is in order, especially since we have such a good spot on the beach? What's the attraction there?

Best Breakfast in Cabo and maybe the best anywhere
Mama's Royal Cafe

For dinner it is called Felix and I don't rave about the dinner like breakfast. Not bad but ??? The owner Spencer is a nice guy and puts out a great newsletter. He has a website with great salsa recipes.

Absolutely! Most of the boat trips go out there so do go some way or another, even on one of the glass-bottomed boats. There is a colony of sealions that stays on the rocks out there and it's just really interesting to see the rock formations up close.

My favorite way to see it is on the Caborey. They do a sunset cruise that is really enjoyable. You can have a complete dinner with live entertainment or you can have just the cocktail cruise with lighter fare. We've done it both ways and it was lots of fun each time.

If you choose to do a timeshare presentation, you could ask for tickets on the Caborey as part of your gift.

Added info: Unless you are really adept at jumping in and out of a little panga boat in potentially rough surf, I don't recommend going to Lover's Beach. Just look at Lover's Beach from whatever boat you happen to take out there.

I'm in Cabo NOW....lol...having a blast at the SHeraton Hacienda Del Mar.....free internet for 30mins per day.

Karen we had dinner at Casa Mazatlan and it was great!

Also, regarding jumping in and out of the boat to Lover's Beach....ours almost capsized 2 yrs ago..waves are pretty rough and I found myself bailing water for 15 minutes....was pretty scary...wont be doing that again.

Safe Travels!:) Gordo Leles here we come!

Here's a link that will show you where it is. Roll your cursor over the squares. Then zoom out on the map.

Glad you made it safe and sound and you're having gun. We excited to get there tomorrow.

Did you go to Senor Sweets on your last trip to Cabo? It's on the marina next to the Harley Davidson cafe (new location from their previous location to the right of the mall entrance from the marina). I'm looking forward to
going there as they weren't open last year but are supposed to be open now.

Have a safe flight Karen!

I'll be at the airport today picking up my daughter and her friend since they weren't able to fly down with me on Saturday.

I found an awesome open-air seafood restaurant yesterday afternoon. I like venturing into town and eating with the locals. A cab driver recommnded EL TORO GUERO. They have an extensive menu of fish, all seafood type cocktails, shrimp dinners prepared in many ways, etc. My buddy had the biggest shrimp cocktail loaded with shrimp....and tasted great. It was about $7.50...and worth every penny. I had a grilled shrimp plate that was equally delicious.

It's about 8 blocks up the street from Gordo Lele's. Just ask a cab driver and I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding it...it is on the corner of Miguel Hidalgo and Matamoros.

Time for my massage....have a great trip and a fun, relaxing time!

Thanks! We made it here just fine yesterday and everyone
is having a great time already. Thanks for the tip about the restaurant. I
think we'll venture farther into town from the main drag and try some little
places the locals like. Will probably go to Gordo Le Le today, but not sure.

The rest of the group is working out at the gym and I'm working out my fingers on this laptop sitting outside in a pleasant courtyard here at the Rose.

We're all thoroughly enjoying the great spa here at HDM and my massage yesterday was great! We walked the marine after dinner yesterday evening and will take a sunset cruise to the arch tomorrow. I was told you can WALK under the arch because usually the water level is higher. I think that would make for some awesome pictures.

BTW, if you're out and about tonight, there's a show in the sky..the Perseid meteor shower that occurs annually. Look toward the northeast horizon as of 9om tonight but best viewing should be from 2-3am local time here in Cabo. Here's the story http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20090811/sc_space/strongmeteorshowerexpectedtonight

Have a great day and don't do anything that even closely resembles 'work.'

Just saw your post today as I'm only checking emails in the morning. Did you see the meteror shower? I don't think I could have stayed awake long enough to see it even if I knew it was going to happen.

We went to Senor Sweets last night--my favorite dessert place. Their new location seems larger than the old one. Can't believe all the high end shops that occupy the section of the mall where Senor Sweets used to be. Wonder how many diamond-encrusted watches that cost $45,000 they'll be able to sell? Must make a fun place for the cruise ship passengers to walk through.

Hi Karen!

Haven't been to Senor Sweets.....luckily I don't have a sweet tooth or I'd be in trouble...i have more of a 'Taco Tooth' lol

Went to the arch yesterday in one of those glass bottom boats and then had tacos at Gordo Lele's...thought we were gonna miss Javier but he showed up half way thru our dinner. He was very accommodating and sang sone Beatles and Sinatra for us. Nice of him as he was worried over his poodle who was very ill at the vet. The tacos were great and huge! Didn't realize it or I would have only ordered 3. Oh well, shouldn't waste food! lol Did you go to Gordo's yet?

Well sadly, this is my last day with my daughter and her friends as they leave Friday at noon...i'll be returning on Saturday...think I'll go to the spa as usual and then head into downtown Cabo for another massage...$35 for 60 min isn't bad.

BTW, I did get up at 3am and wentto the beach to see the meteor shower......unfortunately I didn't see any meteors..lol I think maybe the resort's lights were too bright...stayed out for a good half hour..o well, there's always next year.

Hope you're having a great time.

It's a good thing to know there are so many recommended restaurants in Cabo! I am just learning about the area and was so excited to hear about nearby San Jose del Cabo. Now I'm planning on flying in three days earlier to spend some time there. It sounds exactly the type of place I'd like to explore; hubby will get his beach time when we're at Pueblo Bonito.

We saw the meteor showers not last night, but the night before when the skies were so clear. We're far away from city lights and boy, that was the BEST meteor shower(s) I have ever seen!:cheer:

I am soooo looking forward to this trip to 'Los Cabos'!:hi:
