We have our first Private Tour booked for a fishing excusion with Brant's this coming May and are curious how much is considered proper for tips. We have an all day excursion booked that we are sharing with another family and want to make sure we budget this into our expenses.

TIA

For an all day excursion I tipped $30 for 2 adults and a child, and this depends on how good the driver is. I'm not sure what the etiquette for fishing is.

When we book a private full day tour, we usually tip $50. We have always had great service, and feel it is important to compensate the driver accordingly.

We tip the Skipper up to $120.00 should we get what is targeted and less for a boat ride. The Skipper then shares the tip with the mate. Most websites sugest 10 - 15 % for tips. It kind of depends on what you charter. A smaller panga with just a skipper would cost less than a larger vessel so the tip would be less.

Other fee`s would be for fish prep when you leave and that can be given to the person doing the prep. Lunch is extra and so is the license.

Do not buy a mounted trophy fish from Mexico as you can order it yourself from Greys Taxidermy in Florida.

Always buy live bait for large game fish at the marina.

good luck

Thanks so much Bill, I will show this to hubby and he will understand what to do with it! This is a great help.

BTW.... We chartered a 8 hr (8 person max) Private Charter for our party of 6 through Brant's E Plus.
