I was reviewing historical Priceline bids for Washington DC on their website the other day and read a comment posted by moderator Sheryl who mentioned that she has not been associated with Amazing Bargains for more than a year.

She encouraged the bidder to use her link to make a Priceline bid. So it sounds like she still has a business relationship with Priceline but not through Amazing Bargains.

I don't remember this being discussed on Tug - it may have been - I just wasn't aware of it.

Any Tuggers with more information about this?

Thanks

Richard

She gets a kick-back on every reservation you book through whatever affiliate site she directs you to. I used to book through her links, but then she left for an extended period of time due to an unexplained illness and the site went to pot. I figured I wasn't going to be putting money in her "tip jar" if she wasn't doing any work. In the mean time, I discovered you could get your own Priceline kick-back by linking to Priceline via fatwallet.

When I first started using biddingfortravel.com, probably about 10 years ago, there was a direct link to PL at the bft side. I was more than glad to use the link, as I got huge value from the site.

Then I believe that some of the vendors to PL got upset that BFT was prominently displaying winning bids. I guess that outfits like Marriott didn't want it to be so easy to find out that they were routinely selling rooms via PL for one-third to one-half of what they were accepting for the room via the internet.

So those concerns pressured PL to stop allowing direct links from bft. That led Sheryl to hook up with amazing-bargains.com, so she got a cut on the referral to a-b.com.

Apparently PLs providers have relented and once again are allowing Sheryl to link directly to PL.

I always use BFT before making a bid on PL and have found it to be very useful and I'm more than willing to use the link to support the site.
