Premium travel Credit Cards

PSA: for the Doordash $5/month food credit. I just read a great tip from a Flyertalk post - You do not need to pickup a meal. You can use the credit to buy a coffee at a local coffee shop. So when you pick up your grocery order at a convenience store you can go around the corner and pick up an *almost* free latte at Starbucks or a local shop. This might also work for ice cream or desserts.

The deli counter at Wegmans counts as a grocery purchase for Doordash, at least in the DC area. It shows up as Wegmans Meals to go. A new one opened within a mile from work for me, so I’ve been getting a medium sub sandwich for about 40 cents twice a month for lunch after taxes, using the $10 twice a month Dash pass credit. The 5% credit for picking it up myself covers the cost exceeding $10, which is due to the sales tax. For me, that’s a better use of the credit than a grocery order; I prefer to pick out my own produce. Plus, I get the other $5 dining credit to use elsewhere.

We have been picking up a small package of chicken salad from a local chain of chicken salad restaurants. Its serves two and is normally around $7. Door dash marks it up to $9, Chase brings it down to $4. We take it home and make a couple of chicken salad sandwiches. Easy meal for $2 each.

i tried to pay for stubhub ticket using the paypal split pay option. it did work but you need to make sure to unclick UR point so it will not take UR point to pay for the purchase. I didn’t know that but regardless did get the stubhub remainder credit from 2 sapphire reserve cards

i was able to use the doordash $10 at 7&11 and jewel deli at chicago. 7&11 not available at honolulu but I was able to use the $10 credit at Safeway deli at honolulu yesterday to pick up 1 lb salt and vinegar wings. Will see whether can use jan 2026 at the safeway at maui

i've not been using my door dash. I guess I should look into it.

This whole door dash thing is foreign to me. I mean, the grocery stores are 4 miles away.

on doordash app, choose pickup. then either grocery store or safeway deli. need to make sure safeway deli as regular safeway doesn’t have pickup option. using grocery delivery with tip will eat up almost the $10 credit

Still pending but dated Dec 31....will let you know

Update. Transaction dated Dec 31 (even though I booked it Dec 30). Edit credit posted Jan 1. I opened a case to see if they can fix it. Bummer...if this uses up one of our 2026 credits.

That is exactly the schedule that mine followed. Hope they will allow it.

Thanks. It was a good test and now I know not to wait until the last minute. Best to use the credit inside of the year so you get it back.

Hmm...if they deny and keep credit to 2026, I believe I could cancel the res since it is refundable and get the credit back to use elsewhere in 2026. However 2025 credit is lost. Oh well.

Unless they add more cost effective hotels, I don't honestly know how much I can use this credit. I would much rather stay at the Elara with bedroom(s) and kitchen. With my HGVC points it costs about the same as the EDIT cost over the $250. I expect the EDIT $100 resort credit will get spent on parking or wifi or other such nonsense. However, one could make a trip of it to also use the dining credit and stubhub but with 2 players, but that's a LOT of VEGAS that will get old fast.

I wonder if European EDIT hotels might be more cost effective. If so that could be a good use.

I might still keep player 2 another year to see if other opportunities of value arise.

One more DP: my Lyft $10/month credit finally populated after the new year on my account. I don't use Lyft much but good to use in cities when we visit.

Tried another CSR table tonight - Amazonia in DC. Very happy with the dinner - wound up being <$100 after the $150 credit and well worth it. Highly recommend it.

Last year’s were Pig and Khao in NYC UWS - also a great meal at a great price, and El Taller de Xiquet in DC - great meal but cost a bit more. So far we’re happy with the ones on the list. Next up is Tolo in NYC.

We used our 2026 Q1/2 Stubhub credit on Sat to see Cirque du Soliel and our Stubhub credit posted today. Slightly discounted last minute tickets. Our cost for 2 after the credit was $150. The show was cool. We have not seen a Cirque show in maybe 10 years!

i was able to use the chase doordash $10 grocery monthly credit at safeway deli at lahaina cannery today which is close to marriot maui ocean club and westin. Total out of pocket $1.19 for lemon pepper rotisserie chicken after $10 off. can also get $9.99 sandwich or fried chicken using the credit

used 2025 stubhub credit for cirque du soleil Auana at honolulu on january 1. costed more, like $25 in stubhub fee, using stubhub compare to getting the ticket directly from the venue. so paid $109 instead of $78 plus tax

Thank you for those that explained the DoorDash pass credits. I have never used DoorDash and didn’t realize I could apply the credit at places like a Starbucks pickup order.

CSR just added another credit effective jan 1. This is in addition to the Edit Credit, and the travel credit, and reports are that it is stackable.

Here is the info...

PSA: I spoke with Chase and they told me that if the Chase Portal Edit transaction is registered by Dec 31, 2025 (it is) then the Edit Credit applied will be for 2025. Currently the 2026 $250 credit has been applied even though it doesn't show on my portal benefits as used. She said they are correcting this and should be fixed by Jan 31. YMMV. Will check in Feb to see if this is corrected.

Good to know. Do you know where I can find details? Can any IHG hotel will work including Holiday Inn, Staybridge or Kimpton? If so this is not bad but I do not like the 2 night stay requirement because it kills the benefit for airport transition nights.

What if you booked for 2 nights and check out early?

I also got a spend $600 get $100 back on my CSR. So, I booked two nights in San Diego at the IC with The Edit. I adjusted the points used so it required $600 in cash which should trigger the $250 Edit, $250 IHG and $100 Chase.

You can find it under benefits on your CSR card. It has to be booked and paid in advance I assume via the Chase travel portal.

I was able to check on the portal. Not much more information than what was stated here. When I tried to book on Chase Travel it seemed to indicate that the $250 credit would apply to more IHG brands than just the IC hotels.

The brief rules say IHG hotels and resorts. I would hazard to guess the is way more than just IC.
