I have both re-homed and adopted many timeshares on the TUG Free Timeshare forum. I look at the new posts every day, and I often find timeshares that I would like to own, but I'm at the point where I don't acquire a new timeshare without getting rid of one. None of the timeshares I've acquired have much, if any, resale value, but I'm looking for timeshares that I'd like to visit - not for a financial investment. I am going to lose 5 timeshares within the next year, (I think I currently have 11) and I guarantee that I will acquire something else on the Free Timeshare Forum, once they are gone.

I actually think the Free Timeshare Forum is the perfect place for people to adopt their first timeshare, with very little financial commitment - and we see those newbies looking for their first timeshare all the time. Maybe you don't want a timeshare at Podunk Lake - but for someone who lives 50 miles away and loves to fish, it may be exactly the first timeshare they are looking for. YMMV

I don’t know if this is still the case, but I know that for years owners of the Manhattan Club in New York could not not make a reservation at their timeshare and continued to pay high MFs year after year. The Manhattan Club rented units directly to the public for less than what owners paid in MFs. I easily traded in via RCI multiple times.

I think this is prudent information that should be shared with anyone thinking of accepting a free MC timeshare.

My comment was in reference to how this discussion started. Whether or not people should offer their opinions about a specific timeshare in the Timeshare Giveaway forum. There’s the ideal that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I was just pointing a real life example which is…I doubt anyone would want a free Manhattan Club timeshare if they knew the MF was $3,500 and they would never be able to get a reservation.

Some owners don't really know what they own, so they may need help finding the info. I don't think that should preclude them from posting their offer. After they post, people will ask questions and point them in the right direction. Most of the time it works just fine.
(Raises hand!) 🙋‍♀️ I just commented this on the thread about HVC/Diamond Transitions being “paused” with no known resume date. When I read the sticky posts about what to include in the free timeshare listing, I realized I’m not even sure which “parts” of our deeded vs Club purchases/ownership are transferrable, or how that would work for a current Club member that just wanted more points. 😳 I hope someone here can point me in the right direction, and that someone here finds value in what we can give them - we just want out as we never use it anymore. Thank you!

There are a few gems in the Free timeshare giveaway forum. I saw the Kahana Beach studio EOY, and now there is an annual week. That is a fantastic timeshare for oceanfront, and the units are updated beautifully.
