Hi all,

We are planning for a 2 week stay at the Pono Kai.

Does anyone know of any type of transportation from the airport other than renting a car? Thanks, Bob

It's really not far to the airport - how about a cab? BTW - Kauai is very rural and you are going to need a rental car if you want to see anything more than downtown Kapa'a.

We're Pono Kai owners, and I would definitely recommend a car rental on Kauai. There's so much to see going either way from Kapaa.

Bob, When will you be there? We will be at Pono Kai for 2 weeks in January 2009. There's so much to see at the North Shore and at the South Shore, I could not imagine being on the island of Kauai without a rental car. BTW, try to request units in the oceanfront A,B, C, or D Buildings. :hi:

Hi, Mimi

We will be there Nov.1 thru 15th. We have 2 units reserved Bldg "c" One for us and one for our two grown daughters. We then go to Hanalei Bay Resort for another week without the kids. Enjoyed your pics, Just got myself a new camera and hope make good use of it when we get there. Bob

Bob: Be sure to eat breakfast at Ono's, right next door to Pono Kai. They have Macadamia Nut pancakes with coconut syrup.

mimi: Is Wyland, the whale painter, moving to Kapaa? His studio where he used to be is closed and we noticed an empty store with his name on it.

I don't know. On Oahu, we saw a yacht, named Wyland, in the Marina near the Ilikai, and inquired if it was his at a few of his galleries. We were unable to find out for sure if it was his.

Hi Bob

We will be there Nov5-19 in D209. Grew up in Burien, moved to Enumclaw, then up here to Bellingham. Used to work at the Better Homes and Gardens realty on 15th se.
Give us a call if you want to meet up. Greg

Ono's is great, but Kountry Kitchen (yes it's KK) up the street a little bit is that much better IMO. Both are good filling food though.

Also we took a taxi to Pono Kai as our other traveling partners were bringing the car the next day and it was about $30 or close to that. It's not that far away from the airport, but I'd get a rental car if you're planning on visiting the island.

aliikai: Gee, seeing your picture -- Pono Kai's pool has expanded -- just kidding. Looks like Kauai Beach Club's. :)
