Points "disappearing" since the upgrade!

Check your point status online- I've found discrepancies on four accounts! After looking at your 2012 available and cancelled points under "status", go to the first step in booking a reservation and see if the available points match up!

There seems to be an issue with Wyndham's reservation system after the "upgrade".. I've found four accounts where cancelled points show for 2012 and should be available, but when I try to make a reservation- some of those points are missing. After research, they are showing up as cancelled points under the 2013 use year instead of 2012 (even though the cancelled reservations were in 2012)..

This glitch might be beneficial to some of you as it appears to extend your cancelled points into the next use year, but also might be detrimental if you plan to book a 2012 reservation with these points since you cannot "borrow" cancelled 2013 points. Also, the error concerned me because the online status shows those points as 2012 cancelled points- but they are not available when you actually go to book a reservation.

Wyndham reps haven't wanted to deal with it, and use the "extension benefit" as a lure to try and leave the points as is.. However, if you push them- they can get a supervisor to force the points into the correct use year again.

They don't seem to know why this is happening.. So this may be something to continue to watch for in the future and not just something limited to the "upgrade".

I noticed last night that I had 2013 Cancelled Points in one of my account, too. Dang! Thought it was strange as I had NOT cancelled any of my Winter 2013 reservations, but that account does have multiple USE YEAR contracts.

I do understand what YOU are saying - THANK YOU!
 
Same thing happened to me ---

I too cancelled a 2012 res and had the 'cancelled points' show up in 2013.

This happened about 2 months ago .... it was only 40K points and hasn't happened again .... geez, I hope they are not credited to 2031 !!!
 
I havent noticed as I have used all my 2012, 2013 and 2014 points...But thanks for the heads up
 
I looked at mine, saw no issues with points. Actually, all mine for 2012 are used up (last month at WBC, Labor Day Weekend at Ocean Walk).

I'll be canceling a 2012 reservation next month to "move" the points to 2013, so we'll see where they end up.
 
I have seen similar behavior as well (thanks richardm for the post). But I'm convinced there have always been glitches in the cancellation process and how the points are returned. Even before the big computer move I would have points go to use years we didn't have. Sometimes in my favor and sometimes not.

I recently had a cancellation that went to 2013 instead of 2012. Yes, nice they advanced but I needed them in 2012. I called Owner Care and they corrected the error. The rep thought it had to do with my original booking being done with rented points. I'm not so convinced, but bottom line she could confirm it was an error and adjusted the points.

This could keep you from booking a reservation in 2012. That would be a big gotcha if you were doing this after Owner Care was closed and had to wait until the next day for them to make the correction - you might lose a reservation you were planning to book.

Someone pointed out in an earlier thread that to see your points (real time), you can:
-- Select My Membership -> RCI Exchanges
-- Select Request RCI Deposit
-- Scroll to the bottom and you'll see the points available by use year
-- Cancel out of this screen

I find this very handy.
