I’m hoping to get some guidance from more experienced owners here. I’ve been an MVC owner since 2004. Like many, we’ve had our ups and downs over the years, but we stayed committed and eventually upgraded our ownership to Chairman’s level. Overall, MVC has worked well for us, but I’m currently struggling to navigate my ownership. I’m trying to rent out points for future years (2026 and 2027) that were converted from my legacy weeks. Unfortunately, I’ve found this to be more complicated than expected. An established rental platform, operated by a respected member of this community, does not accept non–U.S. citizen to post an ad, which instantly "disqualifies" me. I’ve also tried listing through several owner rental Facebook groups, but so far I haven’t had any success there either. What’s particularly frustrating is that I’m not trying to make a profit by renting. In fact, the rental rate I posted was already higher than my actual maintenance fee cost, and then I was contacted privately by someone suggesting I increase the rate further. At this point, my primary goal is simply to cover maintenance fees, not to generate income. Having points expire wasted is extremely frustrating, as it has already occured with some of my 2025 points allocation. I’m genuinely looking for advice from other owners, especially international owners, who may have faced similar limitations.

really are two main strategies for renting out points ownerships or where you dont actually have a reservation made already

@TUGBrian, can I share about the website I created that I emailed you about? I think it would be helpful to people in a different way than what you're already doing.

have no idea what you are referring to, but if you just joined to promote your website that would be in violation of the TUG forum rules.

Why would TUGBBs want to promote a first time poster's website that help people rent points (I presume since it is in this thread)?

yes, I created a website to help people rent points in a more flexible way and I’m trying to get the word out about it. I am intentionally trying to get permission and even possibly a partnership with Brian. I’m not trying to break the rules, which is why I didn’t mention the website name. I tried emailing tug@tug2.net and tugadmin@tug2.net a few weeks ago. I’d be happy to DM, but I don’t see an option for that.

I can understand your frustration. I want to answer your question from the point of view of a potential renter.
I've been a Marriott Owner for nearly 25 years. I've resisted the temptation to upgrade /convert my Legacy Weeks to Points,
because I've been able to exchange through Interval to get what I wanted. Meanwhile I returned one week to Marriott because the escalating
Maintenance Fees reached the point of being greater than what I could pay to rent a larger unit.

Because I'm not a Points Owner I have no understanding of whether I could rent your points -- or would I ask you to book a reservation for me?
(And then receive the week via a Guest Certificate?)

Because you are new to this -- my suggestion would be to study the topic so that you understand what you can do -- and how to do it.

You can enroll your weeks for free and you would save money over what you are spending at II, with free unlimited retrades.
