Does anyone know the direction we are to go for the upcoming elections? I have emailed everyone at the CDOPP and not heard back - I do not want anyone that works for Diamond. Thanks

Here is what I found when I googled CDOPP today 12/30/10

Would have been professional if they would have send the info out to those who contributed to their efforts financially.

Board Candidates.ContributeGuestbookContact Us. CDOPP Board Candidates The "deeded owners" listed below are candidates for election to the Board of Directors. It is essential to our purposes that we elimate the current bias on the Board (the majority currently back Diamond Resorts Intl.).

Please read what they have to say and send your proxy vote to one of them or click on the email links to correspond with them directly. In order to accomplish our objectives, we need a majority of board members supporting CDOPP.

Biography:

I have recently retired after more than 40 years in high tech, finishing my career as a product director. My job included planning, scheduling, negotiating and keeping budgets. Those skills transfer directly to making the Point at Poipu a better place. I have served on the City of San Jose Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee for the last six years and understand how to work with both governmental employees and commercial enterprises. I believe these skills, combined with the free time retirement has provided, will allow me to help you take control of our resort.

Message to Concerned Deeded owners:

When my wife and I decided to purchase a time share almost ten years ago, we considered all the islands, focused on Kauai and chose The Point at Poipu (then Embassy Suite Poipu) as the one where we wanted to spend our time. We have not been disappointed. It is still our favorite. But things have been going downhill. Particularly since the Diamond Resorts take-over, the focus has been on profit for Diamond, rather than superior management for the owners. This needs to change! Only by getting a majority of true owners, not Diamond employees on the Board will we be able to effect that change. I don't understand how a multi-million dollar contract for managing the property is given repetitively to Diamond without any competitive bidding or negotiation of prices. If that continues, we are only going to see our annual maintenance continue to rise and the actual condition of our property slip. When we bought our timeshares, one of the key selling points was the ability to pass the ownership down to our children. I want to make sure that when that happens, our children have a first class and affordable place to vacation.

Biography:

I grew up in a military family, U.S. Marine Corps, and attended elementary school in Honolulu when my Father was stationed at Pearl Harbor. My wife and I have vacationed on the islands of Oahu, Hawaii, Maui and Kaui. I live in Merced, California, where I just retired as a high school district superintendent. Experience in my home town includes election to the City Council, chair of the Planning Commission, member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, President of my Golf and Country Club, and a member of the UC Merced Community Plan Advisory Committee. I have a B.A. degree from Chico State College and a masters from San Diego State. My leadership strengths are in budget development and long range planning.

Message to Concerned Deeded owners:

My wife and I are approaching our tenth year of ownership at Poipu Point and this is truly our “home way from home” for two weeks every year. I want management to keep the promises that were made to all owners when we purchased. If elected, I would like to ensure that the Board of Directors sets goals, policies, and the allocation of resources in a way that keeps the best interest of our owners as the highest priority. Communication with owners must be improved with management and maintenance fee increases truly in line with what can be justified. As a school superintendent, despite tough economic times, I retired leaving my district fiscally solvent with no employee layoffs. I believe we can maintain a quality resort without excessive annual increases in fees.

Message to Concerned Deeded owners:

I own three (3) weeks every odd year at The Point at Poipu and if elected to the board of directors, I would focus on these areas:

1.Improve communication (beyond the website) between resort operations and the owners.
2.Tightly control the annual budget to eliminate excessive management fees and yearly increases.
3.Prioritize annual expenditures to concentrate on immediate property owner's needs and continual enhancement of working staff needs and conditions.

Boy I would have to agree with you there! wow, I check that site all the time! I even sent emails to all of the officers and not one response! I am really disappointed!

Thanks for your update, I appreciate it! Paid my maintenance fees today! :D

Poipuowners.org or CDOPP

CDOPP should have emailed the membership about the recommended candidates but they have been inundated with new membership requests.

Please remember that these are owners trying to help and they have full time jobs. They are not computer techs or experienced website hosts.

A former board member (Bill Burns) at the Kaanapali Beach Club set up a website to help the owners and it became too overwhelming for him to maintain, especially when he became ill and his wife passed away.

It's best if you just send CDOPP an email with suggestions so they can work out the bugs.
