Hi,
Contemplating a move, (possibly in the spring). Was wondering if any TUGGERS have had experience in renting pods...or any similar type storage units?and or textiles.
I had thought about renting a climate controlled storage unit at a storage facility...but that necessitates moving (by truck) to that unit...then moving (by truck) to my new home. It seems like wheeling things down the driveway to a Pod, having the Pod stored, then having the Pod delivered to my new home is far more convenient.
Any pros or cons would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

My daughter used a POD for a local move and it worked well for her needs. When I priced it for a cross-country move, the price was much higher by comparison to a U-Haul truck, closer to a paid professional mover.

pods

One thing you may consider, is if you put furniture in there for any length of time the joints on furniture suffer, as well as leather if it is warm in the unit.

don't make the mistake we made. we rented a strage unit Jan 03, still paying on it, everyting in it is worthless and very hard to dispse of.

I've used Door to Door storage for temporary containers delivered to our work site. They more traditionally do a POD/container delivery, pickup, deliver for moves like I think you are looking for.

In my experience their pricing is good and their service has been very good.

I probably should have explained....that my move will only be 2 miles away. (The POD storage areas is probably farther). I'm in upstate NY and IT WILL get cold in the winter. I was hoping (but I haven't checked yet), that the Pod would be stored indoors..

used one in our driveway when doing some work on the house. It got very hot in side, candles melted, spidars appeared YUK...But it worked well.
My daughter called for a price when moving from Fl to CT it was very expensive. She found a friend of a friend from NC who did it for her.

Good Luck
