Thank you all for posting these photos and a huge, huge "thank you" to the countless men and women who have served in our military forces. My children have had the benefit of enjoying the freedoms you have secured and protected and we've tried very hard to help them realize that that privilege is indeed a blessing and a priceless gift. Whenever our travels take us near these memorials we stop and "put the fun on hold" in order to take a bit of time to remember and reflect, revisiting the values that are really important.

The last time we were at Pearl Harbor we asked about the short wall with the engraved names. We were told they were the names of people who had survived the attack on the Arizona, but chose to have their ashes placed with their former crewmembers. After the part closes there is a service and a diver places the ashes inside the ship.

I found the trip to the Arizona to be very moving, and was glad we had the opportunity to take our son so that histroy becomes more real, and he understands the sacrifices so many have made to protect and defend our country.

The rough of WEEK FOUR is now posted at my Trip West site (below). Check September 14 of WEEK FOUR for a small blurb on the squadron.

More photos may be viewed under "Memorial dedication and Squadron conference" at my Signature Phots site (below).
