Any good restaurants in the Phoenix(PHX) airport. We have a 3 hour layover next week, and just wanted to have a nice meal there otherwise we will be eating at Midnight.
There are a few good eating options not too far away from the airport (if you are willing to walk, ride or cab it!) Knowing what day and time are you arriving would be helpful - Matt's Big Breakfast is not open late and Pizza Bianco is only open late! The Stockyard is not too far away and, if you like sawdust on the floor and BBQ, Bill Johnson's Big Apple is close buy. I'm not too sure any of these are worth leaving the airport. And, where will you be eating at midnight???
Just there for an fairly extended layover. They have a large cadre of retiree volunteers to assist travelers in the airport. (in colorful sportcoats iirc) We asked a couple of 'em where they eat in the airport. Chili's was the answer. Not being a big fan of chain restaurants in general, we went to (possibly) Paradise Bakery and Deli. Outside security, but that's about all the help I can give. It was OK. A little atmosphere- almost enough to make you forget you are in an airport. Mostly sandwiches, wraps and soups. The staff seemed happy to be there- a change from most fast-food eateries.
Wyndham; Disney OKW & SSR; Marriott's Willow Ridge, Shadow Ridge and Grand Chateau; Val Chatelle; Hono Koa OF (3); SBR(LOTS), SDO a few); WKORV-OFC-4 and Westin Desert Willow.
We will have a very early flight into Phoenix and want to eat breakfast, but Burger King is all we have seen open at 7:00 a.m.
Maybe we should walk around a bit, because we also have 3 hours between flights and have some time to be picky. I would love to take a cab out of the airport to a nearby place, but Mom is 82 and may not appreciate leaving the airport. I don't want to make her feel rushed.
No offense, but expecting a nice meal at an airport is asking for too much. I have been to many airports and the best I ever got at an airport eatery was "tolerable". In the A.M at any airport I try to find a Starbucks and get a bagel and cream cheese with a cup of coffee. Their bagels are not the worst I ever had and better than most of what is served up for breakfast at an airport BK. I can't recall if Phoenix has a Starbucks at the airport but if they do they are usually open early.
