Overlapping reservations

I have one of these overlapping stays coming up because I am staying a week in MVF and will be taking a side trip and staying for a night in Strasbourg during the week. I was on the phone with a Marriott rep to put a request for my reservation in Strasbourg and he saw the overlapping stays. He informed me that I will earn ENC for the longer stay and not both. I said that was interesting because some people have reported that they got credit for the shorter stay. He explained that sometimes the system will reward you for the stay that earns you the most points by mistake and if that happens I can call and ask them to look into it.

I thought that was interesting and will report back on which nights I end up earning.

Ironically, MVC IT system quirks helped us with our recent side trip.
We have normally always booked all of our trips in my name, so this trip would not have been eligible for ENCs (barring another glitch in the system)
However, as a result of some other short term IT issue with my account, we booked this trip in Sue’s name so she did earn the ENCs… whilst I earned them for our main stay.

I had this problem with an overlapping stay at the Kauai Beach Club. Originally only got the 7-night credit for the first week, but after twice contacting Marriott missing stay request and pointing out the 2 reservation numbers and one was 7 nights and one was 6, I was given the 6 nights credit for the second week.

Update regarding my overlapping stay over Thanksgiving week where I booked a one week stay at MVF and a one night during that week at an Aloft in Strasbourg. This was corrected over 2 calls to the elite member services line. On the first call they told me they had to figure out the revenue related to the MVF stay (they were not able to look it up because MVF is an international property.) They opened a case number for me. I received an email from MVF a few days later with my folio attached acknowledging my missing stay request. I waited 2 weeks and did not see an adjustment to my Bonvoy account, so I called today and the representative was able to update my account once they identified the overlapping stays. Overall it was pretty painless. I hope this is a sign that Marriott will not be penalizing members for overlapping stays going forward.

How many nights did you get credit for in the end?

I received 7 nights for MVF and they removed the 1 night for the Aloft that I was originally credited.

value per point is piddly.
I think the value per point was less than 1 cent. I needed 2 rooms for a party of 5 and the family room (sleeps 4) was not available for points. At least the 2 rooms I was assigned connected. The location of the hotel was great though.
