Orlando ts owners cannot exchange into Disney VC resorts

From what I understand the II regional block precludes anyone from trading one resort in the given area for another resort in the same area.

With RCI, it's a bit different. RCI has the regional block, but it is only blocked on incoming exchanges to those resorts that want it enforced - such as DVC. There are specific resorts that no Orlando area owners can trade into, but that doesn't prevent you from trading into the other Orlando area resorts.

Summer Bay does not restrict incoming exchanges with regard to the regional block.

I seldom vacation in Orlando and do not own any timeshares in that area. Probably this information is already well known to TUG members but it is new to me. Delete it or merge it, if appropriate.

While searching RCI tonight for Florida availability in February 2010, I saw a one bedroom unit for President's week at Disney Old Key West Resort. While reading the tiny fine print, the last sentence stated:

"**MEMBERS WHO OWN AT RCI RESORTS IN ORLANDO/KISSIMMEE CANNOT EXCHANGE INTO DVC RESORTS IN THE ORLANDO/KISSIMMEE AREA**

I know that RCI will do what it darn well pleases, but do you think this is a good policy?

Oddly enough, there is no 1 in 4 rule listed.

Doubt this rule comes from RCI or II but from Disney.

It does make sense from Disney's point of view!

If people could buy any less expensive resort in the area and exchange into Disney no one would need to spend all that money buying a Disney resort.:ponder:
