Hi all,
I'm new to this site and like may others were duped into purchasing a timeshare without doing much research. We signed on Sept 3rd and are know in the process of sending the cancellation letter, but in doing so noticed that our address on the contracts we signed had the wrong zip code. Will this affect the cancellation process and should I use the incorrect zip or correct zip on the letter. Thanks

I would leave their copy alone, but use your correct zip code in your correspondence with them. Send a copy of the signature page (for ID purposes) with the contract number to the corporate office in Ocoee, FL a letter telling them you ae rescinding. All signers of the contract need to sign the letter. Return all their junk to the resort. Insure it if it's of value (like a tablet). Keep the postal receipts. Stay off the phone with them or any unknown numbers- no good can come of talking to them. If they say
'We have to talk before the rescission can take place,' they're lying.

Be patent, it can take up to 45 days for a refund, and they are not obligated to give you a progress report.

Welcome to TUG, and Good Luck. We're glad you found us in time.

Jim

Hi Jim and thanks for your quick response. I was just worried that the incorrect data would cause a delay or even worst not accept the rescinding letter. Should I advise them of the mistake? Thanks again for your help.

Also wanted to apologies if I posted on an incorrect thread. My timeshare is with Orange Lake Resorts in Conroe, TX.

Welcome to Tug and please get the recission letter in the mail tomorrow!!!!

Right. Sorry Phil, my mind was on rescinding a Westgate purchase. That's why the Ocoee, FL comment. I'm sure orange Lake is nowhere nearly as sleazy as Wastegate.

Just follow the instructions explicitly, or failing any, just send the rescission letter and a COPY of the signature page USPS Certified with return receipt.

Best

What you bought into is Holiday Inn Vacation Club. We own a week at Orange Lake in Orlando and have made use of it for many years. If you look you can probably find a week at the Texas resort on TUG.

The fault is all mine Jim, posted in the wrong thread. Plus the whole "what did i just do" thing hit me after realizing that i know nothing about the timeshare business so really didn't know where to start. Don't know about Orange Lake Resorts but I do know that they bought out Silver Leaf and heard a couple of bad things about Silver Leaf Resorts. I have everything ready and will be mailing it tomorrow first thing.

Hi Silentg. Yes the Holiday Inn Vacation Club is kinda what drew me in but didn't realized what i was getting into. All kept thinking afterwards was fees, fess, and more fees and the 14k it would set me back.:wall: Right away had buyers remorse. I'am still intrigued with timeshares but i think i should learn a little more before making a decision like that.

Hi all. Just received confirmation that the letter was delivered today. Question, should i also dispute the payment for the down payment with the credit card company?

Thanks Phil

You crossed all the 'T's and dotted the 'I's, and did it in time, by their instructions. They are not crooked players. I probably wouldn't contest the charge, but if it helps you sleep better, go ahead.
