Hello

I seldom post although I often read and benefit from all your great advice.
I am receiving some picture files in jpeg format but I can not open them.

I have Windows 2004, we have a Kodak picture program installed. I am pretty sure that I could open them on my old computer. Does anyone know if there is something I need to install?

Thanks

What is Windows 2004? Do you mean Windows XP?

At any rate, if you need an image viewer, download and install irfanview, from www.irfanview.com

irfanview is a great little program capable of displaying most image formats, include jpeg.

You can also just open the image file with your browser, which is fully capable of displaying many image formats, if you don't want to download irfanview. (right click on the attachment or file and choose 'open with' to do that.)

I will give that a try. The jpeg file is an attachment to an email.
And yes I did mean windows XP.

Thanks

You probably need to save it to your hard drive. It sounds like you haven't done that yet. Open the email and right click on the image. You see a drop down menu with a listing something like "save image as". Left click it and it will ask whether to save it as it is already named or if you want to rename it. Do which ever you choose and click save. It will be saved usually to the "My Documents/My Pictures" probably in the Administrator's folder. When you find it you can see it with the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, or doctor it up with your Kodak program.

Thanks Don

That worked for me. You are right, I had not saved it to my hard drive.

You should be able to open it directly from the email program without saving it first.
