Here are 23. https://travellemming.com/places-to-travel-without-a-passport/

Now, these are travels sans passport. Not necessarily without ANY proof of citizenship. Back in the day, I regularly drove back and forth across both Canadian and Mexican borders. Times (and requirements) change.
So outside of closed loop cruises and US territories, there are none? In other words, in order to fly anywhere internationally you need a passport. That seems to contradict what you are saying in post #24.

So what? You can drive or enter by sea into Mexico or Canada. DHS or immigration do not check your passport to depart the USA. That's what I said.

What? In post #20 you literally said "Lots of places will let visitors in with a driver's license." That sounds like it is based on entering. To enter Canada by land or sea you need proof of citizenship. That can be a passport, passport care, NEXUS or something else. But not just a driver's license.

Nope! No trips planned anytime soon.
Cool. This probably indicates that they have a different set of staff handling online applications and they aren't just going into the queue with all the mail in applications. There may also be a lot more automation behind online applications that require less physical work by a human.

I got mine in under 2 weeks online but my daughter sent in via mail and it took the exact same time - so just really quick right now I think.

Today I was able to complete the passport renewal process completely online, and uploaded a photo from my phone.

The website is currently in testing, and the application window opens at exactly 1 p.m. ET. I'm not sure if it is available on weekends. I was online at the exact moment, and everything worked great!

Thanks for posting this. I had been putting off applying for my renewal since it ranks right up there with going to the dentist, but I was able to get everything done in less than a half hour today. The hardest part was getting a photo without shadows (and looking at the result lol), but it was pretty straightforward.

On our last international trip (to Canada) we filled out the advanced declaration on the ArriveCan app which allowed us to skip the line at the Calgary airport, but it also that meant that we didn't get a stamp in our passports.:bawl: I think that there are going to be significant changes in passports going forward. Some good (online application) some bad (no stamps).

I had also been putting off renewing my passport and I have an upcoming international trip in November so figured I better get started. The online process wasn't bad - just took a little while to make sure I had a photo that wouldn't be rejected as it has to be digital - not a regular photo scanned. I was shocked to get a priority mail envelope less than two weeks later with my new passport. I hadn't even paid for expedited. And my passport card arrived a couple of days later. Pretty painless and shocking actually.

She took a pic at CVS becuz mine didn't pass muster.
For a small fee, they emailed a link to a digital copy.

Big Mahalo for this thread. I wanted to try it when the thread started but I tried in the beta phase and never hit the right time.

So, of course, I put this off and mine expires on December 3rd so I took the time today to finally get it done.

It took about 30 minutes start to finish. The only problem I had with my picture was that I cropped it myself before I uploaded it. I got a too close error so I just reverted my picture back to the original and then I got a take your glasses off error. So I had to take one without my glasses and it was accepted on the First try. It seemed strange since in my last Passport photo I had my glasses on.

Anyway, it worked very well and it was easy. They are just waiting for my credit card to process.🤙🏻

Have a friend here at the OFH who just refused to do it online. Was complaining Monday about the ugly picture AAA took for her but wouldn’t use the link I’d given her. We’ll see how long it takes her mailed firm to get processed and back to her.

I submitted my renewal online on Nov 7 and received my new passport Nov 18. My husband had to retake the picture several times because it was getting rejected for
shadow cast by an overhead light and then didn't like the background. We finally took it against a light gray wall in an upstairs bedroom that had good natural light and it went through. I was astonished at how quickly it was turned around. No expedited processing.

We just had to submit it for my mom, and the picture taking can be extremely difficult. You basically need a flat white wall with no patterns or lines, controlled lighting that is I would guess around 5000k color temp. Phone automatic mode with 2700k (incandescent) lighting will not look white enough. We had to edit the picture to remove a line and brighten up the white wall, luckily it took it or we'd have had to go find a flat wall that was white, probably get like a studio drop cloth and set up my lightstands and off camera flash (on camera left too harsh a shadow to the side when held portrait style) and probably would have used RAW and set the white balance to the "white" drop. Anyway, if you don't happen to have a completely white wall with no patterns or lines, and don't know either photography or photo editing - it can be "impossible" to get a picture they'll take.

Personally I'm probably going back to the post office and seeing if they can do it like when I first got my passport in 2016 cause even if it took 2 months, I didn't need a special area (that we just don't have).
