If I deposit a week into Interval and can’t get what I want for an ongoing search can I use my original reservation or that’s gone?

I have a reservation for Sept for Marbella that with all that’s going on I can’t go then but can go two weeks before, so trying to figure out my best way of trying to sort it out. I live in Spain so can drive. I think normally this wouldn’t be possible but this year I believe there will be more availability than usual.

If you deposit it into II your reservation is gone and deposit stays in II.
But you can use the ‘request first’ method where you request without depositing and keep your week reservation.

This is what I'd do.

There are actually 2 different request first with II, the normal one where you can only search for exchanges before your week and the MVC special one where you can search for before or after. I think you'll have to call II to set that up though you might be able to do it by chat now.

Thanks guys will look into it!

Ok so rang to “Place Request” but didn’t realize I would have to pay an exchange fee, I have only done 1 exchange before and didn’t have to pay, only for my e-plus! So the fee was 209€ prepaid exchange fee. I thought with a corporate II account I didn’t have to pay exchange fees.

Also I am right in thinking I can only exchange my enrolled weeks via my corporate II account? As can’t see my 3 bed external week in “my units”.

Where are you trying to exchange to? Are you placing non Marriott resorts in your requests? If so, the fee applies. To avoid the fee you need to only search for Marriott resorts.

You are correct. Your unenrolled weeks would need to be traded through an individual II account that you setup and pay a separate membership fee for.

In addition to dioxides response I’ll add you do get the exchange fee back if the request doesn’t come through, Vistana and Westin are no exchange fee in addition to Marriotts and you don’t need to call to place the request if you don’t want to- there are instructional videos in the general discussion section of the II community to show you how to place yourself online.

However, if you list both Marriott and non Marriott and then match to Marriott, you do not get a refund of the fee.

No was trying to trade my Marbella Marriott week just for a later date. I asked him several times. Before I called I tried to do it myself “Place Request” it’s for 27th of June but it was saying it was less than 60 days.

So today what I was trying to do yesterday worked except it doesn’t let me search for any further dates than what I already have booked (27th June). I was just trying to push it out a bit Incase the resort still not open!

Are you trying to place a request?
Can you change the dates in the box for latest travel date by typing in later dates? Put in what you are requesting?
I’m not sure why the dates are red- that is not less than 60 days. Perhaps resort is closed/not taking new reservations?

if that’s not it when does your deposited week expire?
when does your II membership expire?

What is the checkin date for your Marbella week? Was it already deposited in II? I think you said checkin was the 27th or is it a checkout date of June 27th?

If you deposit your Marriott week into Interval and don't do request first, are you able to search for both Marriott and non-Marriott weeks and only pay the extra money if you select a non Marriott/Vistana/Westin? Or do you have to make the decision about what you will be searching for at the time you deposit the week

If you deposit your week into II it is there for good and good for 2 years.
You can search manually and you would pay the exchange fee if one is required when you make your manual exchange.

You can also place a request or OGS using your deposited week.
When you set up an OGS you need to pay the exchange fee upfront.
If your request doesn’t come through at all ( or if you cancel it within 24 hrs) the fee is returned.
If you place an OGS that gas units requiring an exchange fee and those that don’t require a fee you still need to pay the exchange fee upfront.

Or you can ‘request first‘ which means you don’t deposit your unit into II until your OGS is matched.
