What should we do while we have one day in Seattle? We are staying near SEA the night before and the night of the day we have to see the sights.

My recommendation for that limited time would be Seattle Center. Space Needle, Experience Music Project, Science Center. A lot more. Here's a link with transit info: http://www.seattle.gov/tour/center.htm

We have offspring there and spent a day at Seattle Center with them pre-cruise. Had a wonderful time.

If you are into airplanes, and nearer to Sea-Tac is the Boeing Museum. http://www.museumofflight.org/ Another good choice.

Without a car it may be difficult to get around much. Sea-Tac airport is south of the main part of town. There is a Light Rail train that runs from the airport into Seattle, which is convenient and fairly inexpensive. Here is their website's schedule: http://www.soundtransit.org/Schedules/Central-Link-light-rail.xml

Once in downtown Seattle, there are a host of things to do. You don't mention what time of year you'll be in town, so the weather may have a bit of impact on what you decide to do. There are lots of shopping and sightseeing opportunities, (Pike Place Market, Space Needle, and so forth.)

If the weather is good, making your way to the ferry terminal could give you a mini-cruise on Puget Sound if you walked on a ferry to Bremerton or Bainbridge Island. Cost is only a few dollars per person for that.

If you'll be here between May 24th, 2012, and January 6th, 2013, the King Tut Exhibit will be in town at the Pacific Science Center (located at the base of the Space Needle.) You could get some serious museum time with that exhibit. I saw it in the 1970's when it was here last, and it was amazing. http://www.pacificsciencecenter.org/King-Tut/king-tut-the-exhibition

Others will certainly have their own ideas, but this can get you started.

Have fun!

Dave

Another thing to check into is taking a Segway tour as early in your day as you can. You get a very good overview of everything and some history and the like. Then afterward you can go to specific places for a more in depth visit. Our tour included a stop at Pike Market (30 minutes or so) so we got to do a nice walk thru of that right off the bat. We also enjoyed, and found very informative, the harbor tour offered thru Argosy.

If you want One Seattle experience go to Pike market. It is historic and quintessential Seattle. If you go to Baltimore you better go to the inner harbor andeat some crabs. If you go to Seattle you go to Pikes Market and try some of the great food in that area.

We plan on renting a car. Also, any recommendations on a good reasonable place to eat seafood?
