Ok, call us crazy ... our journey to 1 million HH points via HGV Owner Updates ...

Which one pays more? 🤪
I've found that afternoon tours seem to pay more. They have less flow through the floor and will often offer more points to get us to go then. Most people want to go in the morning to get it out of the way.

I have one question for JohnnyO, which do you prefer morning or evening timeshare tours?
Mornings normally but it really depends on our schedule. I don’t think I’ve ever been offered an evening tour in the last 20 years. Maybe before that. I agree afternoons are best for getting the incentive without having to tour/talk.

I think I’d rather pay $5,000 for the 1M points than go through all the mental gymnastics you’ve gone through.
So we got an HH email for a special bonus HH points if we buy points … the max we could get was 160,000 HH points for $1,600 … mmmm no thanks. We’ll suffer for an hour … it’s like a retirement dividend.

And based on that pricing … damn we’re rich 🤑

Wow having to go back on this long thread is a PIA. I think the following covers it but I may have to adjust it:

450,000 to the above point

101,000 Chicago May 2025

150,000 Maui Bay Villas/Kohala Suites August 2025

150,500 MarBrisa September 2025

So far we are at 851,500 on our one million point march.
100,000 HH, MarBrisa, Carlsbad, CA October 2025

100,500 HH, Ocean Oak, HHI, SC November 2025

100,500 HH, Ocean Enclave, Myrtle Beach, SC November 2025

150,000 HH, MarBrisa, Carlsbad, CA, December 2025

Running total:

1,302,500 HH

That’s the regular price for points, so maybe you’re PNG in the eyes of Hilton Hotels;)

Typically I get a 100% Bonus offer, so you should be able to get 320,000 points for $1600 or $.005 per point.

Boy your friends in CA are persistent! Congrats on the win! 🏆

W57th is already hitting us now for our end of the year stay with an offer for “Rockettes” tickets and dinner for $125 for 2…a pretty good deal, but we already saw the Rockettes this year. Holding out for a 200K HH deal perhaps again. They seem to be fairly aggressive lately, so we’ll see.

MarBrisa 150k HH points in the bank.

Oh boy, this time we got an “experienced” sales rep who didn’t know how to listen. “We needed Max” for all the premier+ benefits. NO, we are HGVC Legacy EP and we get all the benefits and more. Plus we get DEX EU. All fell on deaf ears. She had to list all the benefits like we were idiots. So I took her paper and listed all the EP benefits next to her list. “Blah blah blah Max Max Max.”

So I finally told her very slowly and clearly

Sounds like the lady we had a few years ago, she thought I was a whale she'd hooked until I gave her a flat NO.

Later we went for Tapas with @buzglyd at the Sheraton and she was there, apparently winding down over cocktails after a tough day selling. She approached our table and gave it one last shot, to no avail.

wow. That's bold to approach again hours later and in a different location.

I would not be cool with that unless she was buying us drinks.

Hi Johnny

You mentioned receiving 100,000+ Hilton Honors points for attending each presentation. We just attended one last week at Myrtle Beach Ocean Enclave as HGVC owners and only received 40,000 points. We also heard non-owners were being offered around $200 instead.

Could you please share how you were able to get the higher points offer? Was it a special promo or booked a certain way?

Thanks in advance!

I think NPD or other personality disorders are common amongst timeshare salespeople, given the shameless gaslighting that occurs.

I bet she does that move all the time.

It was an Owners Update. Usually they offer more for OU's vs non-owners. They called us the week before we arrived and offered us 90k HH. They also offered us a Visa card with ?$ but I don't remember the amount as we were focused on points. See posts #288 & 9. Always negotiate and don't just accept the first offer.

This happened to us during our 3rd update in the same year. They have all of the information from each prior visit, what you were offered, what you were given per location.
I was told I was taking up a lot of people's time.

The thing here is ..... the people getting mad at you are not the same people being paid to book you into your owner's update. One hand does not know what the other is doing. You can tell the people booking you that 'I'm not supposed to go, I've already been ....' ..... they will always say it is ok.

I hope the OP can gets his ten visits. ..... It would be easily be 20 nights depending how / where you use the HH points.

Quoting myself, from almost a year ago.

I'm happy you made it JohnnyO!

I'm glad I personally didn't make some sort of 'never gonna make it' statement.

Interestingly for us, we had a BAD experience in Orlando this year, I used to easily make it through but this time the agent just got to me such that we stood up and walked out.
I admire your persistence and I am happy for the fun I hope you've had with your 'crazy' idea.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I hope you still got your incentive even though you walked out. There is a HGVC sticky with the complaint info about their salespeople. We haven’t walked out yet … but ya never know. And now we have gotten surveys from HGVC for our last five OU’s.
