I am planning on putting on alerts to monitor prices for upcoming air travel

I have not done so yet

Is anyone monitoring if flight prices are dropping because of oil prices dropping

They'll likely fall slower than they went up if history is any indication. I also don't think these companies are going to react to anything this administration promises until it's pretty well collaborated and executed. The oil markets themselves are always volatile and react to rumors/statements all the time.

I already booked this year's planned air travel, but will monitor for future travel, much like I usually do. It will be a while before oil is back to previous prices, and garruntee the airline drop their prices to match.

Flight prices aren't dropping for the locations I have been watching.

as the saying goes Fuel prices go up like a rocket, down like a feather...

All of our air travel has been booked before the Iran dealio. It only took 30,000 air miles for round trip fares which includes the exit row seats. I haven't had a need to look lately. Are flights to Hawaii and Mexico going up ?

Flights to Maui went up awhile ago. I ended up booking economy seats, with miles, with the hope I can upgrade to First Class when prices drop. Our trip isn't until next year.

For us, the odds of upgrading to first class to Hawaii has always been like the proverbial snowballs chance in hell but occasionally hell freezes over so good luck.

I meant I would pay for the upgrade if the price drops. It's worth it to us especially for the red eye flight home.

And one year we did get upgraded from economy to first class SFO to OGG. United was still flying the double decker planes and the plane had been changed. All 6 in our party got upgraded, 4 to Business and 2 of us to First Class in the upstairs part of the plane. :D

We booked our flights to/from Belize (end of Dec. & Feb.) back in May when this whole airline fuel thing started up. I just checked the same flights/same airline and they are higher by almost $300. each now. I'm glad we booked so far in advance. I guess we had better book our FL flights (home for Christmas & back after Belize) soon.

If airline prices stay low then Jet Blue and Frontier will go bankrupt just like Spirit. It is better to have airfare prices a bit higher so that the airlines actually make money and stay in business.

I think the airlines should make money, or as stated above, they go out of business. I do not think ANYONE would stay in business if they did not make some $.....it sure beats a horse and shovel! If you cannot pay for a flight, don't go...easy.

I have price alerts on my upcoming Delta Flights
Some I have booked
Some I will be booking as my travel plans firm up
On average my flights went up 30% today
If it was $400
It is now $600

Yep the price of oil is surging again. Just checked into the MVC Ko Olina. Beautiful property. Had to rebook our rental car because our flight times changed. No mid sized SUVs at Alamo. Had to get a full sized. It was way cheaper though as I assume no one wants to pay to fill them up with gas.

And the price of jet fuel keeps climbing, and the price of tickets keep climbing......
And yet our friend just booked his winter flight to Belize (from Toronto) and he paid just over $100. less than we did when we booked in May. We both booked during a WestJet sale but he got the better price.
I am glad we booked all of our winter flights months ago even if we did pay a little bit more for the Belize one.

Gasoline prices are rising every week in Coastal Virginia since September . Diesel is over $6.00 per gallon this morning.

I received a round of price DECREASES this morning for watched flights

Some fares are down to only $50 to$70 higher than when I started the alerts

I am totally baffled by the movement

But I booked the flights

I am done with planned flights through February

Around $100 from Toronto to Belize? Lowest I can find from Houston to Cancun is $300 in January and it is not a connection I want to take.

Lol, no he paid over $100. less than what we paid in May. I think he was very close to CAD$800. return including a checked bag on WestJet. When we first started flying down there (12 yrs ago) we were just over CAD$600. return each. We have flown into / out of Cancun many times as the airfare to/from Toronto is so much cheaper and even adding in the cost of our ADO bus fares to Corozal it was still lots cheaper than flying into BZE. It just took about 3 hours longer to get to our apartment doing it that way.

I just booked NC to New Orleans last weekend, and paid over $400--on Southwest! And not direct! At first I thought I waited too long, now I think I didn't wait long enough. Girls weekend with college roommates ended up waaay more expensive than when I agreed to go (and pay my part of the Air BnB....)
