I can't remember who is looking desperately for a Platinum 1 bedroom at Kierland for 81,000 SOs but one just listed for a good price today.

Float PLATINUM 81000 1 / 1 4 Selling Time Guys, LLC $10,685.00 platinum season - annual use - 81,000 staroptions issued every january 1. use these to vacation in any of the svn 5 star resorts worldwide! priced aggressively to sell today! usage begins 2008. 1 bed/1bath annual platinum season.

Go to My Resort Network for the listing. FYI, not my listing so I hope it's ok to post.

Hope this helps someone part with $10k :D

I missed a call 2 days ago from Holiday Group. They were selling 81000 points for $5800. Someone got a really good deal.

The Kierland is cheaper at $10,685 than an SVV at $5,800. Why? Because the MF's are low; this is a one bedroom unit and the MF's are only about $650; MF's at SVV are half again more (plus SVN fees in each case). For someone wanting to get into Starwood and who needs only one-bedroom units, this is a deal.

Caveat: 81,000 SO's will not get you a two-bedroom anywhere in Hawaii or in many other Starwood locations. You cannot combine these SO's with your other SO's to reserve a 148,100 unit (unless you retro this with a subsequent developer purchase).

Thank You - Sdkath!

I just signed the contract and FedEx'd a check! My first timeshare!

I am so crazy excited. I can't tell everyone how helpful this sight and everyone's contribution has been. I'll try to return the favor and contribute as much as I can.

I had previously been looking at a 67100 at WKV for $10900 - so this ended up being a pretty sweet deal. Tony at Selling Time Guys seems to be great to work with.

Again - Thank you so much!

DNRDNI,
I offered to buy this unit when it was listed yesterday and thought I had a deal when I talked to Tony this morning. He just notified me that he accepted a higher offer. Congratulations on your first timeshare. How much did you end up offering? We already own a Plat 2 BR L/O at Kierland, and this did look like a pretty good deal. Hopefully Tony can find something comparable for me to let us add to our current ownership. We don't really want the 2008 usage anyway, so I would actually be happier with a unit that had usage starting in 2009. I'm sure you will enjoy Westin Kierland.
Good Luck,
Doug

To have 81k wouldn't it have to be the 1bd premium, someone posted above that the MFs for those are $788, the MF for a 2bd 81k VV are around $866, it will take a lot of years to cover that spread.

Caveat: 81,000 SO's will not get you a two-bedroom anywhere in Hawaii or in many other Starwood locations. You cannot combine these SO's with your other SO's to reserve a 148,100 unit (unless you retro this with a subsequent developer purchase).

Aren't all or almost all of the 148k units lock outs? If you make your reservation for each side at the same time, is it usually difficult to get them put together?

I would not reserve the studio and 1 bdm. separately, unless it is OK with you if they aren't together, because Starwood will not guarantee this. Especially on an exchange, where you don't have any priority, this would be risky if you have to have adjoining units. You could end up in completely separate buildings. If the resort isn't full, you would have a better chance, but someplace like Maui in July would be a long shot if you book 2 units, separately.

But if I have bought resale, and own a separate 81k unit and 67k unit, and want to stay in a 2 bedroom, isn't my only choice to reserve each side separately and request and hope they will be together?

Would this be easier at WKORVN because there are no 1 bedrooms?

Happily I have no Maui intentions in July, March and October are different stories.

Yes. It is interesting, though, that the times I've tried to make StarOption reservations (at WKORV & WLR) there has been 1 bedroom & studio availablity, but not 2 bedroom availability. So even though I own a 148,100 unit, I wouldn't have been able to make a 2 bedroom reservation.

Would this be easier at WKORVN because there are no 1 bedrooms?

One would think so. I can't see why they couldn't put them together--the worst thing that would happen was that you might not end with as good a view as you might have had if the the two units were separated. It seems that Marriott owners quite frequently book two different reservations and then call to have them "put together."

I don't know that we've had much first hand info on Tuggers who have tried this. I'd imagine, though, that there would be no way to be absolutely sure that the two separate reservations would be put together.

Happily I have no Maui intentions in July, March and October are different stories.

That should make it easier.

Also consider that if successful to get the units together (by requesting) - you likely will end up in a poorer location because of the pecking order.

One of their agents told me it was a 67,100 point unit, so maybe everyone didn't miss as big a deal as they think. I'm no alernate.

Is this in reference to the 1Bd WKV (81K SO) unit that was listed for ~$10.7K on MRN?

So what it boils down to, is that if you go the bargain hunter route and buy two properties to add to 148k options, you give up a shot at a guaranteed combined two bedroom and may sacrafice location. That looks like about a 10k tradeoff.
