Imagine my surprise after scrolling down past Kingsland, that Elara in Las Vegas was listed

Uh, OK

This is part of their new recommendation service; they are suggesting locations they think you might enjoy.

You can turn this off under Communications, then uncheck the box for "personal Vacation Recommendations" under HGV My Explorer+

I was also puzzled until someone else here on TUG pointed this out. I found it confusing, so it went off for me.

Maybe Elara has been added to the HGVC HI Collection. ;)

While you wink at your comment - I bought (resale) into HI HVC trust and it includes properties in CA, NV, AZ.

I think that was @GT75's joke - while there is a HVC HI Collection (that actually is mainly non-HI resorts) there is not a HGVC one.

It's a way to keep MF of the trust lower by averaging the high cost MFs of Hawaii with the low cost MFs of NV and AZ.

Is it difficult to exchange into Oahu, with HGV?

I was wondering about this and why it was popping up. While it’s not necessarily a completely un-useful feature, it’s annoying to me. I know what I want and the one thing I don’t want is to fly to Hawaii when I’m thinking about Vegas.

It occurs to me it’s not so much what they think I might enjoy as what they have an over supply in particular locations. When I look at Vegas, Colorado and California are much closer and less expensive locations than Hawaii when you live in Kansas.

By exchange, you mean RCI/SFX/DEX?

A normal HGV points (anywhere, like Las Vegas properties) can generally get into Hawaii very easily at 9 months (the farthest out you can book a non-home week for *most* Hawaii locations). Even 6 months is fairly easy. Less than that, it depends on how flexible you are and how long you want to stay.

It is the new customer service: in-your-face, lowest-common-denominator crap. Some of the 3rd party sites that people around here recommend are much worse at it ... cuz getting in your face on what may be your only visit to their site is their entire business. It is more a sideline for HGV

suppose it is winter. Is CO analogous to LV for someone in KS? Point: you are asking for some actual thought and programming from them. GLWT.
Example: we have a $1/mo Hulu account (soon to cancel). Our "Keep Watching" section is full 2 things:
A) movies we only partly watched and then "disliked" (and when you "dislike" they claim they will "stop recommending this to you")
B) TV shows for which we only watched 1 or 2 or 3 episodes and then "disliked" (and when you "dislike" they claim they will "stop recommending this to you")
and yes there are a few things we never "disliked" and may well "keep watching"
And the entire "recommendations" thing on Prime Video is almost as bad. It simply refuses to learn anything about or you, or it categorizes content and you into simple-minded blobs that add zero value
Big companies. They are complete idiots. As long as you continue to spend $$ with them, why change?

except HGV can only book HGVC at 7 months (recently increased from 6). So 9 is not an option. During most of the year, "Hawaii" may be easy at 9 months but specific locations like Lagoon or Maui often have to be walked. The higher priced options on Oahu are usu available and the BI is usu available.

"regular" HGV can book 9 months (club points, not home week) out for *most* Hawaii locations. Not sure where you're getting the 7 months part at. I routinely book 9 months in advance and then "walk" the reservation. However, it's not always required (I've routinely gone back at 7-6 months and my "ideal" dates are still available, although not guaranteed). I think Hokulani and another resort have that weird non-9 month window.

i can't find the email right now. it is confusing because I only own hgvc but got maxxed so now I get Max emails too (and promptly delete them). But an email recently went out about 6 to 7 months and so you must be right - As HGVC I can now book Max at 7 mo rather than 6.

Although these are actually initialisms and not acronyms, so the above video is not quite correct.

Cheers.

Yes, I think MAX is a whole different beast.
I'm still "only" HGV (at least that's the website branding, etc.)
Club points bookings on page 29 (starting) from the 2025 rules are essentially "most" resorts are 9 months, but then you have the whole "hilton club" and others that have their special windows.

@hurnik, which specific club are you in? It isn't HGV; that is the overall company.

I had to select HGVC before this screen, but mine also just says HGV. Wow, let's just keep this confusing for everyone.

The problem is that we're all HGV now...HGVC, bHC, HVC, Embarc, BG, and who knows what else. And there is no way of knowing where and when someone can make a reservation when they say they are HGV.

It seems Wang has taken Syndrome as his mentor, "And when everyone's HGV... no one will be".

I only have the "traditional" HGVC (that's what it was called when I purchased) resale for Las Vegas Blvd, Flamingo and the Seapoint On the Beach (affiliate).
This was before the branding to HGV and before DEX and Bluegreen acquisitions.

I have no "by hilton club"
I have no "max"

Yes, Hilton has overly complicated things, IMO, that's why I referenced the Owners Rules for 2025 and the start of the PDF where it lists the booking windows.
