We've stayed there twice, just returning from our most recent trip last week. I also just did a review of Oceana Palms if you want to check that section of TUG.
This time we were on a south view on the 9th floor, which is considered low. I requested South High (1st) and South Low (2nd). Have never stayed in the north exposure, but think I prefer the south because you can get views of the bigger ships going out through the inlet (cruise ship, trawler, etc). I think you can also see the intercostal from any north or south view, the way they are setup, unless you get the dead center oceanfront units. I also prefer the south because I think you get much better sun exposure to the unit and balcony. The only bummer with the south view is the huge empty lot next door which is an eyesore. It's something we could overlook, but it can't be totally ignored, unfortunately.
We stayed in the center oceanfront in our first stay there last year. That was way better than our south view this time. But, as others say, it seems hard to get. We were on an Encore package and extended with Ocean View DP reservation, so I'm not surprised we didn't get that middle oceanfront this time.
