We will be going to Oceana Palms for the first time.
We prefer a high floor (love ocean views!). Any suggestions for building preferences?

Every unit at Oceana Palms has a great view of the ocean. There are no "low floors" because there is a multi-story parking garage on the first several floors of each tower.

As BocaBoy has said, the lower floors are for parking. I don't believe the Villas start until you get to the 9th floor or so. I've stayed on the 10th and 20th floors and actually personally prefer the 10th floor. The 20th floor made me feel like I was in a city skyscraper on a beach..

For what its worth....the building closest to the ocean is Sunrise....the building farthest is Sunset, but as others have said, there is not a bad view in either building. All Ocean Views have excellent views of both the Ocean and Intracoastal.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The Marriott preference email gave the options of North or South views and high or low floors.

If I preference a low floor, will I still have an ocean view? Also, any suggestions for the 'North or South' view selection?

If you have the lowest floor possible you will still be higher than the highest floor at Ocean Pointe. You can't have a bad view even with the lowest floor. You will still see the Ocean. If you want the best ocean view possible ask for Sunrise building and as close to ocean front as possible.

If you want more sun on your balcony during the day choose South facing. For more shade choose North. Beyond that I'm not sure it matters much.

One difference my wife (me not so much) finds important is what you look at on the ground between S and N sides. The N side has a manicured grounds condo property when the S side is an empty lot which is not pretty to look at. I guess this may become more important if you are lower 7th, 8th, 9th floor especially in the sunset tower. If you're higher up all you see is the water, anyway!

Great villa choice

We stayed at OP over New Years this year and had a great villa. It was in the back building on the 7th floor I believe, the first floor above the parking garage. We had the villa on the south side closest to the elevator. One of the great features of this villa and I believe all of the corner 7th floor villas in both bipuildings was a huge patio! I mean huge. There was plenty of seating, full size table, chaises etc. We had invited a group of friends over and entertained on the patio. Also had great views in both directions, Ocean and Inter-coastal. This feature is only on this floor of the buildings. If available I'd definitely ask about these villas.

We have been there twice in the Oct-Dec timeframe. We liked to face south so the balcony received the sun. I imagine if we go in the summer we may prefer the North side for the shade. (This may or may not be important to you) We were pretty high up so all we noticed was the ocean and the land view.
