We have stayed at Ocean Pointe and we were not crazy about the beach, especially by the building we stayed at. The units were very nice as was the pool. We are thinking of staying at the Palms in April or the first week of May either by renting or trading. For Current owners, (in case we rent), it appears all rentals currently say Oceanview or Oceanfront. I understand that what the view is deeded have nothing to do with what you actually see but are there Garden or Courtyard views as well? For anyone that stayed at both, how do the beaches compare, which did you enjoy and if you answer this, why? TIA.

All units at Oceana Palms are Oceanfront or Ocean View. The villas also all start on at least the 7th floor. So no views are blocked by palm trees like you may find at Ocean Pointe. We find the beach at Oceana Palms to be far superior to Ocean Pointe. Beach loungers are free and umbrellas can be rented cheap from the resort. This is unlike Ocean Pointe where you have to rent from an outside vendor and the prices are exorbitant IMO. I made a video comparing the two resorts if you are interested in checking it out. I also have a full playlist of videos from Oceana Palms that will give you an idea of what the views are like.

I have stayed at both and find Oceana Palms to be more upscale and the beach nicer as well. Ocean Pointe I felt was good for when my kids were young as they had a lot of activities for the children. We stayed at Oceana Palms this past August and not only was the room spotless, but really nicely decorated and the view from our unit was awesome. The one downside to Oceana Palms is that it is a small footprint. To me this was a plus as you didn't have very far to walk to the pool or beach. Also in August, Oceana Palms wasn't very crowded so the pools and beach were really clean and well cared for. The food at their onsite marketplace and restaurant was really good and it stayed open until 9pm. The free chairs on the beach was a nice touch. We did rent an umbrella twice and used the Marriott discount coupon for a 10 percent discount. The staff was generally masked (even outdoors) except for the onsite restaurant workers as the restaurant is open to the outside. Overall a really nice stay.

At Palms, there are two buildings one behind the other. I stayed in the second building on the 20th floor in a corner unit and had a great view of both the ocean and the intercoastal waterway to the west. I saw mostly north up the beach. The major difference between the two resorts IMO is the footprint. Palms is very small and narrow whereas Pointe is much more spread out although one building is separated from the others by another building not part of the resort. Also Palms is right off of a busy road and Pointe is in a more residential area with 25 mph and more people walking around. I find the surrounding area at both somewhat limiting in terms of shops and restaurants.

We’ve stayed at both and each has it pluses.

Ocean Pointe is a larger campus, nicer pools and hot tubs and is closer to the inlet for boat watching. It’s also closer to a few restaurants that are within walking distance and a small grocery store and convenience store.

Oceana Palms has more of a boutique hotel feel to it. The units are of a more modern design. It has some of the best balcony’s in the MVC system and sweeping ocean front views. The market place at Oceana Palms has more options.

We enjoy both but for different reasons. We’ve owned at Ocean Pointe since 2001 and would have purchased a week at Oceana Palms had they not priced them so high.

Are there bike paths nearby. If so, can you rent bikes at the front desk?

I seem to remember being able to rent bikes at Ocean Pointe in the past. I think I looked into it once and thought it was to high. Then again, I’ve been wrong before and I might be confusing different resorts. The only t8me we’ve ever rented a bike at a resort was in HHI.
I don’t recall seeing bikes the two times we’ve stayed at Oceana Palms.
There is a bike lane along the main road on the island. I don’t know about actual bike paths to ride on

I too have seen a few bikes to rent at Ocean Pointe. Not sure if they are resort controlled or an outside vendor that you call or book online. I didn’t look that close. Easy biking around that area as it’s very residential with minimal traffic in the residential community.

There are bikes at Oceana Palms. I pulled this frame from some video footage I have. This is in the Sunrise tower garage. That is all of them (4). I suspect they aren't all that popular.

At Ocean Pointe, the bikes are right outside the main lobby building to the right. The bikes are owned by the same vendor that rents the beach equipment at Ocean pointe. They have a qr code that you scan to do the rental on your smartphone.

RE: bike paths at OP (Singer Island in general). No actual bike paths but A1A is about a five mile ride with a wide shoulder and a sort of bike lane. On weekends you will see some large group rides and cyclists all over the place, so for a road I'd venture it's pretty safe because people are used to seeing cyclists.

I've been to both, and Ocean Pointe many times. For families, OP wins hands down. My grandchildren love it and always ask me when we're going back there. If you get a multi day deal with the beach vendor at OP, it works out to be much cheaper. Their rentals are really nice, too.
