I wonder how many sales reps actually own timeshares and have any first hand experience at exchanging. Most Tuggers are very experienced at exchanging and understand II and RCI very well. However, I doubt many Tuggers would want to become timeshare sales reps because they are not very experienced at lying, nor do they desire to become so.
My bet is not to many actually own a timeshare and, of those that do, they probably don't use it as effectively as most tuggers. When you look at how it's marketed, they probably don't need to own a week or two. The prospect, even those who already own, typically know very little about how to use their ownership. Tuggers are unique in that we typically take the time to study and learn about our ownership(s). We take vacationing to the level of an art form. I know others are work who own timeshare yet never bother to become members of tug. I'm amazed at how much they've spent and how little they understand.
If one had time it would be a good question to ask the salesman followed up with asking how they've been using the product, where they've gone and the exchanges they've made. For those that don't own it could spell the end of their presentation and it's so simple for the prospect to end it by asking, "So why haven't you bought your own product?"
