Ocean Pointe Room Assignment

I also reserved Ocean Pointe for mid-Jan. through II, but also reserved pres. day week through FL club.
When I called Marriott to use FL club, they asked me if I want a "real oceanfront unit" and I said "yes", they assigned me to oceanfront building and requested high floor for real ocean view, so I would say, "Owners get the first dip for unit choices".
That being said, I would not expect true oceanfront unit even though my II paper (unit assignment) says oceanfront.

No chart, but I have compiled this over the last few years

ZZAO – 3BR Ocean Front unit that can be locked off in to a 2BR and efficiency portions or kept as a full 3BR.
THMV – 2BR portion of a 3BR Ocean Front unit.
THVG – Studio portion of a 3BR Ocean Front unit.
ZZAB – 2BR Ocean Front unit that can be locked off in to 1BR and efficiency portions or kept as full 2BR.
OFTM – 1BR portion of a 2BR Ocean Front unit.
OFTG – Studio portion of 2BR Ocean Front unit.
ZZAA – 2BR Ocean Side unit that can be locked off in to 1BR and efficiency portions or kept as full 2BR.
OVTM – 1BR portion of a 2BR Ocean Side unit.
OVTG – Studio portion of 2BR Ocean Side unit.

I need to copy this and put it in a file on my computer.

Doug, I've studied google maps satellite images of the resort and I think I'm in your camp. Tranquility is good for me and looking out at ships and water is better than raucous pool activity. I hope they honor my ocean view but only time will tell.

Because most people want to be where all the action is and be close to the larger pools and hot tubs, Kingfish is relatively easy to get if you request it.

IMHO, one is not necessarly better.....or worse, than the other. They're just different. For those who enjoy the pool scene or have kids, I usually recommend the main complex with Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia and Pompano buildings. If you have kids my opinion is that Sailfish and Dolphin are best with Cobia and Pompano being closer to more adult interests (and maybe a little quiter).

For adults that want to relax I like Kingfish. It's quiter for the most part and is relatively self contained. We enjoy the views of the inlet more than just the typical ocean view from the main complex. My wife spends hours watching for, and often finding, dolphin in the inlet.

I've never found the walk up the beach to the main complex (maybe a 1/4 mile at most) to be inconvenient. In fact, I rather enjoy that short walk in the sand. When it's time for dinner, we can eat on the balcony (small table though) and enjoy the sounds of the ocean rather than a guitarist with an amp and a mic singing Jimmy Buffet songs.

Every unit has a view towards the ocean. Even ocean side units have a view towards the ocean. The trick is to get a 4th floor or higher unit in the main complex and 3rd floor or higher in Kingfish.

I would expect ocean front but, it might not be a high enough floor to see past the ocean through the bushes and trees that surround the property. Especially if you're there during high owner occupancy.
