Sonmeone posted about this in a comment on my latest Ocean Pointe video. Apparently the Ocean Walk retail and beach parking has instituted parking fees. I doubt this fee will impact most visitors of Ocean Pointe, but it seems parking fees are getting added to everything.

What a joke! Nothing there ever interesting to me. I just cut thru on the way to the main drag going north. Only thing I ever did there was going to th USPS years ago to ship a package.

Never did visit anything else there. Guess I will never get drunk with the goats or visit Jonny Longboat either.

I wonder if the restaurants will be able to validate parking? If not, this may not be a good thing for the retailers and restaurants in the mall. $7 if we stay longer than 2 hours may be enough to keep us out of their parking lot. We sure won’t be parking on the East side. Plus, what’s this 79 cent “convenience fee”. Paying to park isn’t very convenient to me!

Typically, we don’t spend 2 hours eating or shopping, but I also don’t enjoy feeling rushed. The good thing about Ocean Pointe is that it’s not a long walk. Most will be able to simply walk rather than drive to the mall. As people age, walking that far isn’t always an option.

It seems the parking is done via a third party vendor and QR code. So I don't think there is any validation. Thus the first two hours free to accomodate stopping in for a meal or shopping. It seems the parking fee is primarily for beach goers.

Did not notice the grace fee on the first 2 hours. So it's not that bad. Funny I did not see any signage when I drove past recently? Agree it's for the beach people. Really nothing there I find necessary? We usually eat at Guakomole's on the other side of the mall outside of the parking lot.

The trick is to park on the west side of the businesses and be out of there within two hours. If you do that then there is no charge at all.

Also, if you live in Riviera Beach or Palm Beach Shores you can go to Riviera Beach City Hall and submit proof of your ownership, pay $50 and they will provide you with a one year parking pass. I don't know if owners at Ocean Pointe (or any Timeshare on Singer Island) would be able to obtain a permit but I expect you would be able to if you can show proof you own along with your $50.

This same pay to park system is now in effect at the parking lot on North Ocean Avenue where the public beach is near all those beachfront high rise buildings. The $50 permit is good there as well.

My guess is that they haven't sold a lot of annual parking passes, but who knows for sure........

.

As mentioned. you can park for free on the west side to 2 hours (i.e at a restaurant). I suspect the fees are for everyone who parks to go to the public beach and stays all day.

Then a $50/year parking pass is a bargain compared to the hourly rate.

Everyone is trying to charge the consumer for something examples:hotel & timeshare resort fees, parking fees, express lanes toll fees, and automatic fees for using your credit cards.
