Does anyone have an Ocean Pointe building layout they could post? I am trying to figure out which building(s) to request for my family visit in July. I know we want a non-smoking building close to a kid-friendly pool. A higher floor, great ocean view would enhance our stay, but I realize these will go to owners first. Thanks for any layout/advice you can give.

We are currently staying at Ocean Pointe. The buildings from North to South...
Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia, Pompano, and Kingfish. The Sailfish and the Dolphin have recently received a 5 year refurb. For kids the Sailfish and the Dophin would be the buildings of choice. Their is a regular pool, kids pool, and a toddler pool by the Sailfish and the Dolphin. The boardwalk to the beach is also closer for guests staying at the Sailfish and the Dolphin.

We are in the Dolphin building. Unfortunately we are on the first floor on the side. That said, I can sit on the sofa and have a great view of the pool and the ocean. Much better than what I expected once I found out our room number. We did request the Sailfish or the Dolphin building so we at least got that.
I might add that we exchanged into the resort so we didn't have the pull that an owner would have in getting a building and floor.

Ocean Pointe is a beautiful resort. We are looking forward to a GREAT week in the sun!

Elden, glad to hear you're still having a good stay at the resort even though you're on a low floor. As you can see, the resort is packed for Spring Breakers. Much of it is owner occupied right now. We just left OP this morning. Even though we're multi week owners I still don't mind asking for the 3rd floor as it is very convenient for using the stairs to come and go. The stairs on Dolphin put you out right by the activities room. The first floor actually comes out to be the second since parking in on the ground.

For activities we did something different with our kids (big kids of 19 & 26) this week. We talked to Sean of Visit Palm Beach and booked an evening kayak outing to go around Peanut Island. We went out after our son's flight arrived and got on the water about 10 p.m. For safety, we had red and green glow sticks attached to our paddles. On our life jackets we had whistles. The moon was 1/2 full. Water was fairly calm (winds 5 mph) except when the Princess and a freighter went by. When we saw them coming in the inlet we beached the kayaks for a short time to visit the island. Enjoyed just drifting in the moonlight. Sean asked if we wanted a picnic but all we needed was drinks in a cooler. He got us various kinds of Arizona tea and Propel. They were great when we finished the most difficult part of the paddling and it was time to just drift.

Don't forget to enjoy those pools at night. The water is delightful and there's no crowd. Also, I went out on the beach one night when the tide was low and looked back at the resort. Pretty sight with the moon. Looks like the weather is going to be another fantastic week. Maybe just one day of rain. We've found that it helps to park your car outside the garage on rainy days as it washes the salt spray from the windshield.

ramsfan, if you've exchanged through II look on the confirmation for the room designation. It might give you a hint if you have snagged an oceanfront unit that someone traded.

Hey fellow fan (Kirkwood Here)
I traded back in OP (even though I own there also) - I always call 2 weeks ahead and just request high floor ovelooking the main pool.

Thanks for all your replies!

Elden12...have a fantastic week at OP!!! We will request the Dolphin or Sailfish.

Quilter...I think the evening kayak sounds great...were there two person kayaks? My kids are only 9 and 11 and I am not sure they can handle a kayak on their own. We will definitely be checking out the pool at night.
Our II designation is DZZAA...does that mean anything to you?

Gailo...Grew up in Des Peres so you are in my old stomping grounds. We will take your advice and request a higher floor...may not have your luck since we are not OP owners.

Thanks again, I can always count on Tuggers for great advice.

ramsfan, they were 2 person kayaks. The seats had nice backs on them so you could lean back and relax. You definitely need the muscle of someone strong in the back as even with winds 5-10 mph we had to work against the current on the south and east sides of the island. If you got out there and found the current too strong, you could turn around and only play around on the calm side of the island. I'd calculate that no more than 1/3 of the circumference was strong paddling. Also, we played it safe and kept close to the island shore as it was night and unfamiliar territory. There was one portion on the south side with large rocks in the water that we had to get around. We elected for no guide but you can easily ask Sean for a guide since you have younger children.

Sorry, can't help with the room code. I was hoping it would have something like OV or OF in it. I've been told by the front desk that if an exchanger gets a room from II that was deposited by an oceanfront owner, the exchanger will get the oceanfront room. I know I've encountered exchangers at the resort who tell me they are in oceanfront rooms. If no one else on TUG knows the designation for that code, I would call my favorite II rep and ask her.
