I think the cruise lines can read the tea leaves. Passengers want a return to 'normal'- that means pretty much maskless and the ability to congregate and mingle. Having unvaxx'ed fellow pax & crew aboard make everyone conscious of the threat of illness. Other East Coast and Gulf Coast and Caribbean ports would be happy to service cruise terminals.

Has it been stated that 98%/95% means maskless cruises?

Not that I have seen. But I feel that that's what passengers want. Nothing can be done about kids (that 2%/5% unvaxx'ed) that are too young to get an approved shot, but on the cruises I'm attracted to, there are darn few kids.

I think the last thing anyone wants is for cruises to resume and there be covid-19 outbreaks on these ships. That would be a disaster for the industry and everyone who wants to cruise again. I can't blame the Norwegian Cruise CEO for wanting mandatory vaccination for everyone on board, at least for cruises at the beginning. That is the safest way to restart cruises.

Just what I was thinking......
I just spent the last hour or so looking at cruise pricing for the fall and next March and then came across this article about Florida. One Covid outbreak on a cruise ship is all it will take.

I think if a business....call it a cruise, theme park, restaurant, gift store, whatever wants to mandate what walks into their door then that is their right. They make their own fate.

Personally, right now if I had the choice, I would opt for the cruise that everyone is vaccinated (and I may even pay more money for it).

Lots of discussion about FL, NCL, CDC on Cruise Critic- all forums not just Norwegian.
I just hope that by January 14 we can sail on a ship out of Fort Lauderdale that is allowed to refuse unvaccinated passengers and not have to be masked and being able to stand within 6 feet of all the other vaccinated guests.
