Do you guys usually buy protection waranties? It's $69.95 for 2 years. I guess accidents do happen. Worth it or rip off? Thanks!

Depends. How much did the nook cost and what does it warranty against? For something like a nook, normally it's not going to be defective, I wouldn't think, like something mechanical. And if it doesn't cover wear and tear or if you damage it, I wouldn't bother.

I can't remember the last time we bought extended warranties.

I bought the warranty.

OK, I confess, I had to google "Nook" to see what this topic was about...I guess I'd heard about B&N introducing an e-book device but somehow missed the name. So my first immediate reference was to something related to a baby pacifer...although I think that may be spelled differently:)

I recognize how hard it is to find memorable and trademarkable names for new products, but somehow nook (and I think they show it lower case on their website) didn't quite capture this. Kindle isn't great, but at least it seems a bit more exciting.

Unless you are accident-prone, I think $70 is a waste. If the thing breaks a year and a half down the road, a new comparable model will most likely be much less expensive. A used one (comparable to the 1.5 y/o model) would probably be less than $70 by that time. It just doesn't make sense. JMHO.

Based on the price of the Kindle, that has been out for a couple of years, I would not expect the price of a refurbished Nook to come down to $70 next year. A new Kindle is the same price as the Nook - $259. A refurbished Kindle is around $219, and, well, it's used, and I personally don't like to buy refurbished products.

Oh, a Nook is one of those electronic book things? I'm thinkin' a table in a corner!! - Duh on me.

Did you request a quote from SquareTrade Warranty. I buy many of my warranties (if I buy one at all) from them. They have a 40 percent off sale coming up on Black Friday - I think you can use it if your item was purchased within the last thirty days! :D

It's probably a rip off but, since it's new and there's not track record on how well it's built, I paid for the extra protection.

I was going to suggest Squaretrade. I have not used then yet but my daughter just bought a new ipod with her money and I thought the least I could do is by the warranty from them as they are so affordable. I did not know they have sales on top of there great prices!:whoopie:
Is there any kind of code to get the 40% off?
thanks
