Hi there,

My mom and I are trying to do a mini getaway at Newport Coast as my parents are really interested in purchasing a timeshare there. I contacted Marriott 800# directly and they informed me that they could not put us up for a night and directed me to the online reservations for over $300 a night.

Does Marriott not have one of those 1-2 day sales promo trips that we can take advantage of? My mom would like to actually listen to the 90 minute talk as she doesn't know much about timeshares. Would I need to contact Newport Marriott to get this? The lady at the 800# said it was not possible but I could hav sworn I have received invites from them in the past for much less $$$. I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks! Katherine

Thank you! I looked everywhere for something like this. I thought Am Ex had these specials (they do with Starwood) but didn't see one for Newport.

With that package you may not actually stay at NCV, but a hotel near by. I would ask.

If you go this time of year, you can usually get a villa no problem. They might try to stick you in a hotel (the Dana Point Marriott is real nice, as is the Ritz, but I don't think they use the Ritz for these anymore), but just tell them buying hinges on actually staying at the resort.

The link I provide above is outdated (note the 2005 expiration date) and has been the same since shortly after we bought there. I wonder if the number still works :D

Kath: Didn't your parents just buy a timeshare in Arizona? I thought I read that over on the Starwood board.

You contacted the Marriott hotel people by calling that number. They rent hotel rooms and will never direct you to a TS promo.

As the several other posts have said, you need to talk to the TS sales people.

when I called late last year to inquire about this $299 promo, they were thinking about putting us up in one of the two Marriotts in Newport Beach, about 5-10 mins from NCV (I think)
