I have just rescinded a Westgate TS. I know they are not very highly regarded on this forum. As a complete novice I wondered why they have such a bad reputation and what it is that makes a "good" timeshare company. Having found this website I feel I need to be much more informed before taking on a TS as it is much more complicated than I thought. I live in the UK too so I also have to take into consideration flight costs. Am finding this website so informative. Thanks to all.

I'll let others address "Wastegate" issues (not being an owner there).
IMHO, unless you plan to travel almost exclusively in the U.S., given the vagaries of currency fluctuations and air travel these days, you might be better advised to buy closer to home in a system run by a international hotel corporation that has affiliated properties in the U.S. or at least a tie in with an exchange system, likeRCI or II.

I am going to move this to the forum where Westgate owners post. They might be able to answer more specifically regarding some of their dissatisfactions.

Rescinding is a good move, WestGate or non-WestGate mox nix.

"New" timeshares cost w-a-a-a-a-y too much no matter which timeshare company they come from.

Not only that, "new" timeshares aren't even new. By the time anybody shows up & checks in, other people will have already stayed in the unit before you get there. All timeshares are used-used-used. So why ever pay the "new" price for a used product ?

Buy timeshares resale.

Save $10,000
