Worldmark credits
Hi Everyone,

You have a newbie to the site….I have been a Worldmark credit owner since 1993 (bought when it was Club Esprit). I only have 25000 points purchased directly from Worldmark.

I’m entering retirement and am trying to decide if I should buy more credits from aftermarket, or just rent one time use credits. Any thoughts or experiences you would be willing to share?

Thanks

Well, I don't personally own / use Worldmark, but from what I understand, you can rent up to 2x, so you could rent to 50,000 credits total including the 25,000 you own. Only you can decide if you are going to want more credits than that, but 25,000 already sounds "large" to me from what little I know, 2.5 weeks in many locations right? How much are you going to travel? Do you want to do all of it with Worldmark? One thing I also tend to suggest to people is to look at whatever exchange company you can use (RCI is better for this IMHO) and look at their cash deals.

That can dip your toes into other systems without a commitment. Also consider renting direct from other owners on TUG to try some various systems.

You can get Worldmark points after market for very cheap on ebay, here, or other resale sites. You can also rent. I guess it depends on if you want the ability to book yourself and are sure you will be traveling more in the future. Renting can be nice and you can even find other owners to rent from. Then you are not limited to just the Worldmark system. There are so many good timeshares outside of Worldmark to rent. Check out the TUG rental options as well.

We own a lot of Worldmark Credits. About 97K. We have no problem using it up every year. But if I was in your position I would not buy more with the Permanent Maintenance Fees. I would just rent in 50K per year.

Thanks for the tips. I will look into those options too.
