Hello everyone,

I have just joined this invaluable forum and am looking for the opportunity to get some help.
My husband and I have just returned from our vacation at St. Croix (Carambola resort which for some reason is not mentioned in these forums) and decided to look for a TS for our personal use at nice scuba diving site(s). We are not interested in nearby shopping, entertainment, casinos, nightlife and upscale interiors but would rather choose piece and seclusion along with wonderful facilities for scuba diving and snorkeling. Also, we are looking for two consecutive weeks which is much more difficult to find then one week. Obviously, we would not find a lot of options to fulfill such demands so your expert advice would be highly appreciated as to what TS type to consider and where to shop for them like E-bay etc.

Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to TUG! :hi:

From the West Coast, my first choice would be Hawaii. Much closer than the Caribbean. Here is my advice for buying your first timeshare: http://tug2.net/advice/Timeshare_Buying_Tips.htm

We just got back for Morritts Grand Resort in Grand Cayman. It was wonderful and there are two dive boats harbored our front of the resort in the water. They have a company that will take you out daily for dives. There were LOTS of divers there. It is on a quiet end of the island. There where BBQ's in the sand for a nice evening grill meal. A very Relaxing resort.

I would consider many things before buying anywhere. I would not buy Morritts Tortuga, but the Grand was nice. There are many issues though since the Hurricane Ivan and many owners have had concerns. We traded a US based property to get there. We own RCI points from 3 weeks at Wapato Point Resort in Manson Washington. It is popular in the summer. I rent my summer week to pay for the maintenance fees and use the points from other two weeks I own there for trading. It makes travel almost free. There are many creative ways to maximize the timeshare dollar. Owning in a place with lower maintenace fees (fewer pools and employees) helps keep your costs down, but allows you to trade into places others have paid a high yearly maintenance fee for. That's the game. How can I trade where I want to trade while spending the least amount of money to both purchase and maintain my week.

I have done most of my purchasing through Holiday Group.com - Claudio is my agent there and if you tell him what you want he will call you when it comes in. We have also used RedWeek.

I do own at a couple of pricey resorts because I fell in love. But my Wapato Point helps make up for my indulgence.
