Hi everyone! I'm SO GLAD to have found this board today. I wish I would have found it before we purchased our timeshare in 2005.

[What's the best way to sell a timeshare in Hawaii that's not paid off?]

I've posted on craigslist, MyResortNetwork, and will on here as soon as I get confirmation of my membership. I also contacted TransActionRealty.

Thanks in advance. I have no clue what I'm doing!

You can't go wrong with Shelley at Transaction Realty she will tell you if she thinks you are over/under priced. Very professional and honest.

I'm not sure, but that price seems a bit high for [the week you have for sale.]

For the previous years that you were unable to use your week, how nice of you to gift the weeks! Did you know that you could rent your week out yourself and easily cover your maintenance fees? Just a thought in case you are still owning it for this year. Rental rates may be slightly lower due to outrageous airfare prices (especially during Christmas!), but you should be able to rent it out. You can try craigslist, TUG or redweek to rent it out, for example.

Try Fred Messreni at Timeshare Resale Gallery for an honest assessment of resale value if you are needing another opinion. Good luck!

I own at Westin Ka'anapali (bought developer), and have been tracking resale prices there for five years. Check out the Starwood board if you want a lot of info!

Hi everyone! I'm SO GLAD to have found this board today. I wish I would have found it before we purchased our timeshare in 2005.

We purchased from the developer and have wasted so much money in the past 3 years. We've only used it once and we have gifted it the other 2 years.

I'm sorry to hear you've been unhappy with your purchase - why haven't you used it the last 2 years?

I removed some specifics from your post so it isn't misinterpreted as an Ad. Please see the sticky at the top of the Buying, Selling, Renting Board entitled "How to Sell your Timeshare."

Good luck!

You might be wiser to learn how to use your timeshare for yourself. Trade for vacations you can take. A timeshare with money due will be a hard sell and may be worth much less.
The resorts listed on Craigslist are way too high for their value. Most owners don't understand that.
Also, change your user name so you don't get spam.

Sorry. I probably seem like a newbie newbie newbie with the way I posted!

I did read How to Sell Your Timeshare and got some good tips. I was just curious if my pricing was realistic but since I can't post numbers on here, it doesn't do me much good.

I don't want anyone to take over the payments. I would just sell it and pay off the loan myself. I'm not looking to make any money.

I guess I'll just wait to hear back from Shelley. Thank you for the referral to Frank too. I will try him, as well.

I have no idea how to change my username...actually I don't know how my email address became my usernname. My Mac probably pre-filled that field when I was signing up. Any help?

It's not that we were unhappy with our purchase. I think its a great property and I am aware that I can rent it, use StarOptions, etc. We just simply do not have the time to think about vacations. I had a baby 8 months ago so I've spent the better part of the past 2 years either pregnant or with a newborn. Plus, we've had so many family weddings we've had to travel to that we really didn't have time to think about using our timeshare, as well.

I'm just so overwhelmed by it and need to get rid of it. We don't have the money to pay off the loan and the monthly payments are killing us. That's pretty much the bottom line.
