New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth's baseball glove sells for a massive $1.53 MILLION at auction, shattering the previous record of $387,500
  • The glove was sold at the 19th Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory auction
  • The previous record was $387,500 for a game-worn Lou Gehrig glove
  • Ruth gifted the glove to Jimmy Austin, whose niece found it in a storage box

I need to look at an old baseball signed by a local AAA Team from 1947 in Portsmouth, VA.

This was a gift from my deceased Father. Who was station in the NAVY in Portsmouth, VA.

I had a baseball autographed by Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. My dad donated it to the Smithonian when I was away at college without asking me. My brothers had complained because they didn't get one, so he got mad and donated it. I would have never sold it and would have kept it within the family, but I wonder what it would be worth now.

I have a softball glove that put a lot of batters/runners out. One play was a triple play as short stop -- tag the runner to third, step on the bag at 2nd, fire a shot at 1st. I bet Babe Ruth never did that.

Maybe I should put that glove up for auction.

What a difference baseball gloves looked like back then as compared to today. That looks like a bulkier version of my leather shop gloves with a leather strip attached between the thumb and forefinger.
