Which resorts we should reserve for a quick September New York City visit? The Central at 5th, The Quin, The Residence and West 57th St.

We only need a studio unit for 2 persons. What is the main difference between Studio and Studio Plus? We do not own resorts at NY. Does it make any difference for any benefits we can have?

Thank you.

Q: What is the main difference between Studio and Studio Plus?
There’s nothing in the TUG resort sticky thread. Take a look at the room descriptions on the club member website. See example below for West 57th Street.

Not that I’m aware of.
Ask the front desk for their local discount card - https://www.hiltongrandvacations.co.../the-hgv-difference/elevated-rewards/new-york

If you do not own in NYC you have a much shorter eligible booking window. In addition, you will not have access to any of the owners lounges (breakfast, etc).

Also, be aware there is a housekeeping fee of $85 at W 57th St if you stay 3 days or less. At the NYC resorts, you can stay as little as 1 night.

Also, the booking window is shorter for W. 57th (60 days) than the others (75 days, I believe). So that can also factor into the decision. W. 57th and Quin are at the same location (across the street). Residence if about 3.5 blocks south and Central is 3 blocks further south and one big avenue block east (had to look that one up as I didn't know where it was :)).

So locations are not all the different.

Cheers.

Really? Isn't that against club rules that require equal treatment on all club bookings?

Nope. The rules explicitly state that only owners get access to the Owners' Lounge. And this is independent of booking type.

Cheers.

Thanks for all great insights.

I booked a studio premier unit at The Residence. Only studio premier at Residence and studio plus at Quin are available for the days we need, How does the Quin compare to the Residence?

Would love to hear more about the different resort feel and room size, views, amenities, especially given different point requirements. We are also thinking of a quick trip to he city.

Residence is part of a very large hotel (I've seen some support for "biggest in NYC" but haven't fact-checked). But it's big. We used to own HCNY, and changed to W. 57th. The few times we were at HCNY we didn't like it overall because of the hotel and the unending wait for elevators. I've not been to Quin, but I can see it from W. 57th and it seems to have the more intimate feel that we like at W. 57th.

Huge difference and then it depends on what you want. I do like hustle-and-bustle quite often. But I like my residence to be more settled.

Cheers.

The main reason I booked at Residence is that Hilton Club occupies top 3 floors of Hilton Midtown. I hope that we can have some decent view from the higher floor with a studio premier unit.

The Quin, West 57th & Central are purposely built timeshare villas. I am just afraid that we will be placed at the bottom floors with no views, with a studio plus unit since we are not owners of New York properties. Anyone knows which floors are those studio plus units for Quin and Central? Thanks.

The Quin is a repurposed old hotel, not a purposely built timeshare. I stayed in a studio plus unit there, though I don't recall what floor it was on. There was barely room around the bed to walk and only one chair. Not planning on staying there again.

One thing we found at The Residences and HCNY is that they nickel and dime you for things due to being part of the hotel. Need to receive a package - $5 to $10 fee. Need to store your luggage - $5 a bag. Need to use a computer - usage fee.

BTW even though The Residences are on very high floors, most rooms see other nearby buildings.

I just stay at NY Club ( 36th to 38th floors or they may have added 1), last week. Not the Residence which is higher still 44 to ??.

We requested a park view for a our week stay and got one, albeit partially blocked. But the trick is to get a lower numbered even room number for a view. We had 3804 and had a good view as there is no building immediately to the north when you are in the lowered numbered even rooms.

Having stayed only at NYC and W57th, I found NYC rooms to be larger. There was a separate workspace, and a table and more room in the room. The bathroom is a tab smaller, but than W57th, but only 1 needs to be in there at a time. I prefer NYC or Residence Club, as it is just slightly closer to what I was doing.

Here was the view.

Thanks @Sandy VDH for sharing. Could you also add this image and the room numbers for HCNY to the View from the Balcony thread for further reference?

All, best you will get at W57 will now be a filtered view of the park link this one, since they recently built the skinniest skyscraper across the street. However the units on higher floors that have the views are typically taken by owners who have first priority and require more points.

I don't believe, Quin has a view of the park at all since it is a shorter building which you can look down on from W57 across the street. However the penthouses have city views.

I stayed at the Quin in September 2021. Because Covid still precluded HCNY from opening, my 2BR reservation got moved to The Quin as a penthouse + studio. The main room was 1804 and was the nicest NYC hotel room I’ve stayed in. It was a spacious 1BR suite with living space and dining room, reasonable kitchenette, guest bathroom and large bedroom with city view. The outdoor space was huge with a great central park view.

I attached pics. But I was so impressed with the room and historic hotel that I bought a week there (adding to my 3 weeks at W57 and lots of HCNY points).
