New Wyndham Resort! Portland, OR

only 75 units. :(

and split between Worldmark and wyndham, so could be a tough one to get for sure, but its also an Urban destination versus "resort" so maybe it will be like Austin which seems to have plenty of availability so far.

Niece lives near/in Portland ... was there for her wedding a year plus ago. Been there, done that ... have ZERO interest in Portland as a VACATION destination. I kept thinking at the time .. "this downtown area looks rundown ... old ... greyish weather and no reasons for ANOTHER vacation trip."

My reaction to this release reaction ... this resort is NOT on my bucket list ... I have no appeal or desire to explore Portland further.

This one has been in the pipeline for Worldmark for a-g-e-s. Glad to see it may finally surface ... although there is not yet official mention of it on the WM website.

@jwalk03 : Thx for posting the story link!

It is on the Wyndham Website

Of more interest to me from the above cited article is the following:

South Myrtle Beach, S.C. and St. George, Utah

This quarter, the company also opened resort inventory in two popular tourist destinations: South Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and St. George, Utah. WorldMark Myrtle Beach - Plantation Resort is the first WorldMark property in South Carolina. The WorldMark Estancia resort expands the club’s presence in St. George, providing beautiful suites for visitors exploring the natural beauty of southern Utah.

“WorldMark by Wyndham has great drive-to offerings, with a heavy west coast presence, and a growing east coast offering, now including Myrtle Beach, which we were able to add to our WorldMark brand in 2018,” Brown said. “These locations will help facilitate lead generation and owner sales with multiple brands helping accelerate sales growth, while opening opportunities for fantastic coastal vacations perfectly situated centrally on the east coast.”

What is referred to above as "WorldMark Myrtle Beach - Plantation Resort is the first WorldMark property in South Carolina" shows up on the Wyndham Club Plus/Access website as

"Wyndham Plantation Resort

CLUB WYNDHAM® Plus Resort, CLUB WYNDHAM® Access Resort"

As a owner of a CWA contract, I hope most of the units at Plantation Resort goes to Worldmark. Same for the Portland resort.

I find this funny because South Myrtle Beach, SC isn’t a real place. They just made up a town for the article.

Description of South Myrtle Beach that includes a generic map showing approximate location.

"Lodging
Myrtle Beach accommodations include more than just hotels. You can book rooms at resorts, motels, condos, homes, apartments and campgrounds. Once you select a type of property, choose from one of four regions in the area. Central Myrtle Beach, which close to the airport and attractions such as Myrtle Beach State Park and Broadway on the Beach, offers oceanfront hotels and resorts. North Myrtle Beach, which includes the Windy Hill, Crescent Beach, Ocean Drive, Cherry Grove, Atlantic Beach and Little River areas, has beach home rentals, oceanfront resorts and campgrounds. South Myrtle Beach includes Surfside Beach, Murrells Inlet and Garden City Beach and has homes, hotels, resorts and condos for rent. Litchfield Beach and Pawleys Island is slightly south of Myrtle Beach and offers resorts and home rentals."

Need Transportation that includes South Myrtle Beach?

Wonder why those chose to add a new WM to the St George market and not dual brand it as WM and Wyndham?

Why are they expanding the WM brand vs Wyndham Brand with new resorts at pace 3 to 1. This article lists 3 properties all WM and only the Portland is dual branded. Strange?

I wish I had easier access to Utah property, I would go more frequently.

The thing I don't understand about Estancia in St. George is that it's all 3 and 4 bedroom units. How much availability do they expect to need there? The WM St. George location, which is right across the parking lot, already has 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units in it. I get that Utah is about big families, but really? An entire resort of ONLY 3 and 4 bedroom units? I don't get it.

This has been discussed in detail before.

The 3 bedroom units across the street are difficult to get into. It will continue to be difficult. Estancia offers an option for those who cannot plan ahead and can pay the price of procrastination, or those who want a Marriott experience at WorldMark St. George. (Probably for less maintenance fees than an equivalent Marriott unit).

There is something quite popular about the first week of April, 2019 at St George. The entire WM St. George and WM Estancia resort are completely booked.

There is, of course, the credits generated by Penthouse and Presidential units. More credits for Wyndham to sell and more maintenance fees per unit (which I heartily support; let the upscale owners pay more for premium units and subsidize the rest of the Club. Sometimes that is me, as I really like the high cost Casitas at Grandby, CO. They blow the doors off of any Marriott unit I have ever stayed in).

I remember that thread. But why ONLY 3 and 4 bedrooms? They couldn’t squeeze in a few smaller units somewhere? Unless someone wants to pay 18K credits or more, they’ll never stay in that building. :)

Maybe LDS Spring Conference? When is Easter?
