New Wilderness Resort Waterpark

Smart move. There's no other real competition for Dollywood's Splash Country, which is very, very popular. The indoor/outdoor water park at the Wyndham Great Smokies Lodge/Wilderness at the Smokies Resort has also been extremely popular. They can't offer admission to the general public (at any price) because it would be too crowded. I'm certain they are regularly asked if they can make exceptions since you can see some of the water slide tubes from the parkway. The location is just outside of the most congested roads in the area so day guests coming from Pigeon Forge to this new water park may avoid the worst of traffic jams closer to Gatlinburg.

They do sell day passes at the wilderness now

Thanks for the info. We didn't know this. But the price is steep for the size of the water park... roughly the same price as Splash Country which is much larger.

Staying there in late August. I hope the construction does not disturb us.
The article posted says the new water park will be located across the street and up the hill. Hopefully, it won't be bothersome. :) Have a fun trip!

We were there over July 4th week because our 7 year old daughter loves water and always has a great time at pools. If there are other kids at a pool she will always end up meeting / playing with them. But she really didn't like Wilderness! So many people with so many waves bumping around .. both indoors and out. So for the first time she didn't end up playing with other kids at all. And she's not into the big slides yet. Our room at Wyndham Great Smokies looked out right over the water park and she did not have an interest swimming but for a few times.

We had a reservation for one last night up at the older Wyndham Smoky Mountain resort and finally she had a great time at their traditional pool up on the hill.
