Forget the good old eagle on the reverse side of quarters! In 2020, you could have a fruit bat on it instead. As part of the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters program, six special designs, including the fruit bat, will be found on the reverse side (known as the tail) of quarters.

I'm glad our lesser known creatures are getting their day in the sun. For example, the mascot for the University of California Santa Cruz is not Screaming Eagles or Lions of Wolfpack...but the banana slug.

Yep, my daughter is a proud Slug. Don't think they have any sports there -- which is when the mascot would usually come into play.

Awwww, cute! I've seen the fruit bats on American Samoa. I watched them for quite a long while ... fascinating. Nice to be reminded of that particular travel!!
