1) it looks like MVC no longer sells weeks. It only sells points. Do you agree ?
2) is there a secondary market for mvc points ? Or only option is through Marriott ?
3) does anyone know the conversion rate of MVP points into bonvoy points ?
4) are MVP points same as Dp points ?
5) how many mvp points equal to interval points ?
6) if I buy a deeded weekin the resale market now? What are my potential restrictions? I noticed for example a Marriott resort in Hilton head , SC has several sale listings any where from $2k to$$10k which seems like a good deal.
6a) as a resale buyer of a week what things I need to watch out for ?

7) why is even Marriott allowing owners with weeks to sell in resale when they can buy back ? Is it because these owners are making more money in resale Vs selling to Marriott ? It would be wiser for Marriott to buy and then make their money in turn when they sell.

1. Partially agree. MVCI sells weeks outside the US, and, they sell weeks are part of bundles with points in the US. If you press them at a presentation, they'll even sell you an unenrolled week in the US with no points. I got to that point here in the US last year (didn't buy of course).
2. Definitely a secondary market.
3-5. Not heard of MVP points term so don't know. Perhaps it is meant as Marriott Vacation Points? If so, that's DP points. You don't convert those to II points or Bonvoy points (bad deal).
6. Not aware of restrictions per se. You can't easily (cheaply) enroll it in the DP program I suppose, and you can't exchange the week for Bonvoy points which is a pretty bad value for the most part anyway these days.
7. In general, you don't make money by selling your timeshare.

3. For Trust point owners....the conversion rate is 1 DC Point = 40 Bonvoy points. And you are limited in what % of your points you can convert annually, based on your ownership tier.
4. I believe MVC simply calls them Vacation Club Points. Around here, we call them DC points (The point system is called Marriott Vacation Club Destinations program...so the DC comes from Destinations Club in TUGger vernacular) or some call them DP for Destination Points or VC for Vacation Club points. They are all interchangeable.

A lot of good info on the points program here....

Thank you. MVP points is what I called them I meant DP or DC points . Meant to refer Marriott vacation
Clubs new approach. In the secondary market on redweek I only see weeks. Not DP points. Pretty good deals in my opinion. Just want to be aware of my limitations before I pull the trigger being a first timer. It would nice to convert my week to DP points to travel else where . Seems easier Vs trading a week…

Can’t currently buy a resale week via Redweek and cheaply have it enrolled in the points program.

Redweek MVC points resales...

Keep in mind, in addition to the sale price, you have to pay MVC $3/point extortion fee for MVC to allow them to have unfettered access in the DC.

5 - There is a conversion of DP to Interval depending on size and TDI. Restriction is no Marriott trade. Not a great deal in my opinion so don't know much more.

6a - Buying Week - Make sure you know what MF are paid and not. Don't want to buy a week and find out that you now owe years of back maintenance.
When do you get access. Do you get week for 2022 or have they already used, If getting week do they already have a reservation. Same question for next year, do they have a reservation for next year. Depending on season it may be hard to buy a week and get a good 2023 reservation. When I bought mine I made sure they had a prime week already reserved.

For Points - Are they paid up on MF. When is first year of usage. What is time frame of points, not all points are Jan points. Some start in other months, so your use year will not be Jan-Dec but might be Mar-Feb.

7. Marriott isn't selling weeks much so they more than likely have a price/point conversion ratio they like to hit. While you can't use a resale week for points. When Marriott buys back a week they can put that week into the trust and sell those points. So to make the math easy - Say a Hawaii week is worth 6000 points and selling for $18,000 resale. A summer desert week is work 1000 points and selling for $200. So Marriott might let the Hawaii week pass and buy the desert week because points are points to Marriott. Not always true but gives you an idea why they may or may not exercise ROFR. Also during covid they didn't buy back much so a lot of stuff passed at low numbers. Very rare for folks to make money reselling Marriott Time Share. Also Marriott will not usually buy back from you at a good rate. So if you try to sell back to Marriott they may offer $100. Then you decide to list it for resale and get a price of $500. Marriott may the exercise Right of First Refusal and purchase it for $500. That is usually what people refer to when they say Marriott bought the week.
http://www.rofr.net/ is a good site to get a general idea of the prices that pass and don't. But some of the data is from Covid times so just use it as one data point.
And no one is sure how ROFR will be impacted once Marriott officially announces the combined programs.

Small edit to #5- it is no MVC booking with DC points on II, not no Marriott brands. You can book Vistana/Sheraton/Westin and there is no II exchange fee to these brands.

Few more questions when buying on resale market :
1) is it worth engaging an agent from the licensed agents directory?
2) really confused about ocean front vs ocean side vs ocean view... we want to make sure we have an unobstructed ocean view.
3) in addition to redweek which i already signed up for, what are the othersites that i should look into? tug market place? looks like $15 and came across these two : not sure if they are legit?

1) Really depends what you are trying to buy. I own 3 Marriott weeks and have 4 more that in the process of transferring. All came from Redweek or Ebay.
2) What resort? The view categories are very resort dependent. Ocean Front usually the top view category.
3) All of my purchases have been from Redweek or eBay. Tug has listing as well. There are also numerous other sites with timeshare sales listings and many Facebook groups dedicated to timeshare sales as well.

1) Not sure which directory you are referring to. I have a broker I work with and may here have ones. If you find one it usually a good idea to check TUG to see what people say and/or just ask here. The advantage of using one people know is that they also know Marriott and can help get paperwork done and give you real estimates on time to close and if things like reservations and maintenance fees were paid. For instance ever property my broker talked to me about he including info on reservation and use year. Also structured the contact correctly to get past ROFR. One Note if you are buying in Hawaii they are special rules on Escrow that require a local company to handle that.
2) Completely depends on property. Ocean Front is usually as safe you will see the ocean. Ocean View some are not that great and some are fantastic. There are maps in the threads of most resorts as people often ask what unit is located.
3) TUG is good and worth it to support these boards and get access to full reviews. The Marketplace is ok and can give you and idea of prices but people here are better informed so prices tend to be more realistic (higher) and don't have as much volume. That list they have of sites is very old and list craigslist and ebay which can be good or can be horrible.

You can purchase thru anyone you want to. Just be sure you have a competent middleman who will handle the title transfer and escrow process for you. DO NOT pay the seller directly.

I suggest LT Transfers to handle all the details once you select a week you wish to buy and I'll post their website below. Click on it and check them out for yourself:

www.LTTransfers.com

Also give some thought to spending $15 and become of member of TUG. It will be the best $15 you will ever spend!

I will be happy to spend $15 to become a member of TUG. so for Tugbbs i can post without paying for tugmarket place i need to pay that $15 right? what are the benefits with $15? Secondly i found a person who is willing to sell his timeshare week. however like you said i want to be careful in engaging a middleman to handle everything . seller says its an ocean view.

Sent you a direct message with his details.

And to answer your other question. I do it mostly to help support the site. Secondarily to get access to reviews.
Here is details of what you get https://store.tug2.com/newtugmembership.html

The question for #5 was "how many mvp points equal to interval points ?"

There is no conversion rate. Yes, DP points can be used to make an interval deposit, but this is not Interval points.
