Hello!:cheer: I am a new Owner of one bedroom SBP. I got a letter from the Resort and called and confirmed my ownership. I was told at time of purchase that I was purchasing a large premium one bedroom 847 sq foot villa. I did my research on the SBP website and looked at floor plans and room details.

I sent and received email confirming the fact that I was not purchasing the smaller lock off size one bedroom. Now that I own and called the resort to confirm ownership- I actually do own the small one bedroom.

I don't know what kind of trading power I will have. I have never exchanged with II. My reason for purchase was for trading- not going to the home resort. I was so darn excited to be a part of the Starwood family:D

So, I can still be happy  With what I own, and it is EOY - and low MF, or I can try to fight over the fact that I did not get what I was told I was getting.

If I will have good trading power with it- Gold Plus season - I will just be happy:cheer:
What do y'all think? Other Starwood Owners out there with experience with large and small one bedrooms, exchanges etc.,?

Did you buy it from a reputable seller off ebay? Have the take it back if you decide not to keep it. I had a similar situation with a Marriott I'd purchased whose float season was misrepresented and they got it off my hands due to their error.

Hopefully, someone with both large and small SBP units will weigh in, but I think if you're not intending to stay there, a smaller one bedroom will better for you. The extra mf probably wouldn't be worth any extra (if there is any) trade power.

OTOH, if you're thinking about renting out the unit from time to time, the one bedroom premium would be more desirable.

I don't think the difference in trading power will be significant, but did you pay a premium for the larger 1 bdm.?

I did not pay more for the one bedroom, I basically got it free - and will just be owning it for trading purposes. I thought I did my research well, and checked the different type of rooms. It seemed odd that the MF on my unit was lower than the other one bedrooms available, which is why I clarified it with the company.

Yes, EBay TTTimeshare. I really thought I was getting a deal with the large one bedroom for a lower MF. I was tipped off reading different posts on the Starwood post where Denise was listing all the 2012 MF. I saw the small one bedroom had my MF listed so I called my resort.

Hopefully it will have the same trading power and it will be good for me. I would rather have a lower MF of course and trade higher if I can. I don't want to only be able to trade into the small one bedroom.

Mostly I want to trade to WDW and WMH - maybe SDO, also WKV. That is the plan.
If anyone owns SBP, hopefully they will come on and let me know.
I joined II today, and got the 2for 1 after reading Denise's post on how to get that. Since I have an EOY, I won't be using the second year, right?

Thanks- good point about renting- but I don't think I will.
How do you like your SDO? I considered that one as well. I live in Ca and could actually go there and not only trade.

I had commented on SDO- not SBP. Proving once again I am NOT a morning person. Sorry!

Trading into palm springs in summer will be easy, and probably will "see" 2 BRs is my guess. Dont know about other times of year.

I have very pleased with my SDO units. I own all unit types there (2 bedroom LO, small 1 bedroom, & larger 1 bedroom). I haven't noticed a difference in trade power between the small 1 bedroom and large 1 bedroom.

I have been quite satisfied with the trades I have gotten with the SDO units. I have traded into the following:

Westin Ka'anapali
Westin Lagunamar
Westin Mission Hills
Marriott Newport Coast Villas
Villa del Palmar Cabo

For the past four years we have traded into Mission Hills in August. Kind of a family tradition now. Yes, it's hot, but we like it.

My kids have wanted me to trade into Desert Willow but I have not seen 2 bedroom units there in Interval.

I own a Sheraton Vistana Cascades unit which I'm in the process of selling. It more or less traded the same as SDO, but I prefer SDO as that is within driving distance for us.

What time of year do you think you'll want to go to Mission Hills/Desert Willow? I think as long as it's not peak season, your SBP unit should work well.

Thank you! I feel good about it now, and I appreciate the feedback.
I looked at all the resort photos online before I made my decision and it looks like a very nice resort. I live in Southern Ca so I don't expect to get there much. It had a much lower MF than the Ca desert properties - so that was my goal. It seems like after reading the posts, I actually found a good thing in the smaller unit.

July/ August Is fine with me in the desert :)

Dollar for dollar you are much better off with the smaller side if you're only looking to trade it.

I own the smaller side and over the last eleven years have traded it for:

MGV 1Br in March
WMH 2Br in March
KAA 1br in April
EGK 1br in April
MGV 2br in Feb
MCP 2br in Feb
SBP 2br in Jun
WKV 2br in May
MOW 2br in Aug
MAO 1br in May
MBY 2br in May

It's been an excellent trader IMO.
