I updated the reservation graphic that I had made in the past to include the new 7 month Max reservation window that is starting in July. I don't know the exact days but HGV uses 31 days/month for some of their other calculations so I did the same and can update the graphic when it is published, if needed.

something that I did just think of and based on comments from another person. The reduction in the club reservation window without more competition is a bigger impact on the HGVC side since the club window is only 9 months. The Club side has a longer booking window, so less impact. I wonder if HGV realizes that?

Based on the conversation earlier this week, folks were confirming that Max doesn't have access to same inventory as the individual legacy systems (see below).
The following posts are from the "HGV Max Reservation Window Changes to 7 Months July 2025" thread (link).

I think that is because it is an exchange. The more folks that join Max and exchange will change the inventory.

If it's just another exchange company similar to RCI then I'm assuming there won't be any major impact to existing inventory for HGVC legacy members unless I'm missing something
If future exchange inventory is now going to Max as well as RCI, then maybe the RCI annual bulk inventory might be reduced. :ponder:

Plus, like cd5 had posted earlier, they are putting all Embarc owners in Max so that will increase competition. Seems like they are trying to increase Embarc weeks in Max.

Interesting... thanks for the heads up.

I haven't been following all of the Max and DEX discussions so I guess I missed that thread.
UPDATE: This statement was corrected below in post #8

I thought that she said DeX. That is a big difference from Max. I think that Legacy HGVC would have something to complain about if all of Embarc got Max.

oops....sorry, my bad. DEX...not Max. That is interesting though because I thought Embarc owners already had access to DEX. DEX US Embarc. We posted the guide in that DEX/Craig post that I did a while back.

I said DEX. All Embarc members will be able to use DEX (no annual fee).
Max is the "tool" that Hilton is using to get more sales (buy more retail points to get into Max). They're certainly not going to offer it for free.

Only Legacy and Extraordinary Escapes 2.0 members had access since 2017. If one just had the "basic" membership without the add-on, no DEX. We used to have Interval with Legacy EE (which changed when Diamond took over) at about $150/yr. When Diamond took over, they changed EE to make it their "tool" to sell more points and added "benefits" to it and replaced Interval with DEX. EE 2.0 (Diamond's version) is now replaced by Max to juice up retail sales. So they decided to give all members DEX, resale/retail doesn't matter.

Since all new retail purchases enable Max usage, I think the number of people with Max will almost certainly increase over time. Hard to know how many people with Max make heavy usage of the program seems hard to predict.

Agreed... Really, only The Club Max members are the concern but they will increase over time, like you said.

Your statement is true, but also remember that all HgvMax will not transfer on any resale (unless mistakes are made).

It would be interesting to see the attrition rate compared to the new retail owner rate.

I don't think HGV or any developer will share those details.

My guess is that HGV sells to more new buyers every year than there are new resale buyers.

But I agree that it will be really hard to know.

Agreed but it isn't just resale buyers but also people leaving HGV, for a variety of reasons, however, unsold inventory probably would not be in our pool to use anyway... It would go to Hilton to rent out

I also agree. But HGV must continue to sell retail, which means continuing to develop new resorts to keep this Ferris wheel running.

ferris wheel or hamster wheel?

hamster wheel?
I can see either, but the hamster wheel might be better. HGV must just keep the wheel spinning. I just don't want HGV to run out of money because I "retire" from TS.

wait, don't you mean that you don't want to HGV to run out of money until you retire from TS's? :)

They better not run out of money anytime soon....I don't have many years left to retire and then we can really use the system.
