New resale/developer points issue

No. I usually consume ALL my resale points in one big transaction annually. It's never come up. I always have extra HK that I don't need or can use. My retail points I have unlimited HK.

I'm in the process of getting 426,000 more resale points, so that will change a little when those hit.
Yes, but unless you start using resale points for short trips only, those 426,000 resale points will bring with them 6 more housekeeping credits and you'll still probably never run out (I never have).

I have 2,000 resale points left for 2026. My resale points have 2 housekeeping credits, both of which I have used for my two 2026 resale points reservations. I have plenty of developer points and developer housekeeping credits left. But if I try to start booking a reservation to use the last of the 2,000 resale points, the system will allow me use developer points to complete the reservation, but because I started the booking with resale points, it will only allow me to complete the reservation by buying a housekeeping credit. Is there any workaround to use those 2,000 resale points without having to buy a housekeeping credit, or do just consider them lost? (I know 2,000 points isn't much, but they're my points that I paid maintenance fees for, plus if I'd made smaller points bookings with my resale points, it would be more than 2,000 points I'd be losing.)
I understand being concerned with the principle of the thing, but a resale reservation is a resale reservation. 2,000 points is worth less than $15 to me, so I'd just let it go.

Yeah, i'm not worried about running out of HK, I use resale exclusively for bookings I feel I need to make far in advance, usually for long lengths, where I now there's no possibility of me being able to leverage either VIP discounts or suite upgrades

Tried again today and got error again. Called in and got a rep who understood what I was trying and got the same error When he tried. Unlike Saturdays rep He did not act like this was correct and was surprised he did not get the prompt to use dev points to complete the transaction. (by the way I do not have enough dev points to make the transaction on dev alone) SO no attempt to gaslight at the start, progress at least. Now on hold of course.

EDIT: after checking he was told can only combine within the 3-month express window. I am pretty sure this is a change as it used to be within the 10 month window.

EDIT2: owner care claims you could NEVER combine points and that my examples were lucky errors. The gaslighting was strong with this person. I asked for a supervisor, and he told me they don't have any. This appears to be a deliberate change; my guess aimed at stopping VIP owners from adding resale points.

Here's a screen cap of my last one I did in February at almost exactly the 10 month mark

I did one last June for December. I also have 5 other examples. This is a new thing and owner care is claiming it was never allowed.

I don't think so. If you are using any resale points for a booking, the entire transaction is considered a resale transaction, and it would require having a resale housekeeping credit.

I suspect it is more likely that they just broke something and Owner Care is pulling a "We have always been at war with Eastasia." You can't Borrow from the future Use Year until three months, and if I remember correctly, combining resale/retail used some mechanism based on Borrowing, but with a different window. My guess is that the retail "borrow" mechanism is now using some of the future-Use Year code incorrectly.

The first vacation specialist I spoke to today, knew it could be done and was surprised to get the error. When he but me on hold, he said he found something in writing that says only at 3 months (my guess is he asked someone and that's what they said, since he did not tell me where it was written), The owner care person was doing the always at war crap. I find owner care less helpful than the poor front-line people.

Here's a thread from several years back where a very similar thing was happening, plus a stated "fix" that allowed SRP bookings to combine resale and developer points:

Borrowing from a future use year is a completely different use case and circumstance than using current use year points.

The only restriction with combining points should be you can't supplement resale points to complete a VIP transaction.

That makes perfect sense, the other way around does not.

As an aside: I was already leaning towards turning down the offered CWA swap for my KBV week, because (a) the VIP benefits are arguably not worth what would be a 25-30% increase in MFs and (b) I'm already frustrated by the clown show that has accompanied the ongoing split of our account post-divorce. We started that in July, and they still haven't gotten it right. They managed to screw it up in several different ways, and one of them was genuinely impressive, resulting in a call about every six weeks. Each call is invariably ended with "there's only one thing we have to do, and it will only take a few weeks."

This is one more reason for me to say "Thanks, but no thanks." It's left such a sour taste that I'm thinking hard about divesting entirely. There are lots of other ways to pay for vacation lodging, and while some of them are more expensive, they probably do not involve this much frustration.

I feel for you, but I am not surprised.

I also explicitly reported that Owner Care is not handling these inquiries correctly, given this was a supported feature after Aug 2021 when VIP owners started having separate points buckets. IDK when this changed exactly, but best guess it’s within the past few months.

Yup - I was the one who reproduced and pushed for a fix that we got in Dec 2021. Looks like we are seeing a regression here. Thanks for digging this up - I may have to remind Wyndham using that link LOL.

Of course at this point, the 3 bedroom I was trying to book is gone, so I need to figure out a plan b.

Any response from Wyndham? Still broken.

Acknowledgement of the reported issue, no update since, it has to be tested/validated and then the root cause identified before a fix will be planned via the bi-weekly sprints.

Any update on this? Please don't let them lose track of this issue.

I am assuming you have heard nothing. This has completely screwed up my end of summer vacation plans with the family.

Just heard today that the issue has been reproduced and a fix has been identified - no ETA on the bug fix implementation as yet.
