I deposited my expiring Dec 2010 vacation points to RCI earlier this month. I did 2 deposits, 126k and 28k. Using my 126k I am doing an ongoing search (no fee upfront until confirmed because I did it before 12/31). Trade value is 17 for the 126k, which I am hoping will pull a 2br in Williamsburg next August. Although it was invisible, once I did the search I was able to modify it to see the value assigned.

I have 10,500 leftover points (same as 2 years ago) that will just expire. Any way to use these? I already booked with 2011 points and have another 10,500 leftover from 2011. Can I combine the 2 years and deposit to RCI or do I just keep losing them?

Thanks,
Joan

Hi Joan,

Normally if you have some points left at the end of the year, but not enough for a deposit increment, you could book something that lets you borrow points from the next use year to complete the reservation (has to be inside 90 days) and then cancel the reservation. As soon as you borrowed the points to make the reservation, they ceased to be next year's points and became current use year, so now they are cancelled points and are eligible for deposit and you can deposit them to RCI. It does cost you a reservation transaction, so if yours are limited, you might have a vacation counselor do it for you all at once. As long as you do it all in the same day, it will only cost you one transaction credit. However, 10,500+10,500 would still leave you short of a deposit increment, so I don't think there's anything you can do about this year's points (unless you actually can do a single night stay somewhere). But for next year's, if you plan your 2012 points, you could pull in enough from 2012 to have a deposit increment.

Have you seen the thread's and/or gotten the email about the new RCI grid starting in mid-January 2011? You'll find it here in the Wyndham forum if not. When the new grid takes effect, I believe the minimum deposit will be 27,000 points and they will actually be points that will go into your RCI account.
