No Marriott Vacation club properties in NYC yet, but now owners can use their Vacation Club Points at four Marriott properties (JW Essex House isn't on the list).

NEW: New York City Hotel Stays

The City Explorer Collection just got more Big Apple flavor! If you love New York, now you can use Vacation Club Points to enjoy 4 new hotel options in New York City.

Standard Rooms are available from 1,400 Vacation Club Points, and Corner King Rooms are available from 1,600 Vacation Club Points.

New York Marriott® at Brooklyn Bridge
Situated in Brooklyn Heights, just across the river from Manhattan, this hotel offers oversized guestrooms and easy access to the city's endless shopping, dining and culture. During your stay, enjoy the on-site restaurant and lounge, indoor pool, fitness center and other great amenities. You can reserve a Standard Room from 1,000 Vacation Club Points.

Renaissance® New York Times Square Hotel
Discover a cosmopolitan retreat with the flair of a boutique hotel, situated on Broadway and Seventh. While you're here, you can visit the restaurant and lounge featuring panoramic views of Times Square, relax in your updated guestroom, or explore the Theater District. A stay in a Standard Room starts from 1,200 Vacation Club Points.

Carlton Hotel New York
This luxurious Autograph hotel has already been a popular option within the City Explorer Collection, but now you can choose to stay in a Junior Suite (from 1,400 Vacation Club Points) or an Executive King Suite (from 1,800 Vacation Club Points). The Carlton Hotel offers upscale amenities such as a new restaurant with lobby bar and a renovated fitness center, plus a convenient location in coveted Midtown Manhattan.

These vacation options are only available to Marriott Vacation Club Destinations™ Owners.

I posted a separate thread about the insurance before I noted the discussion on this one, but I think it would be good to keep all the info. on the insurance in an insurance thread anyway, since it is an imp. issue.

Stuff happens, and for $119 a year it's a great benefit.

Back to the NYC properties- nice add-on, but I wonder how even the rack rates compare to the MF's alone for these point requirements.

It doesn't compare that well with the rack rates IMO. A standard room is $499 this weekend at the Marquis. At the MF for trust points at .44 that would be $616 for the same room. In mid January it's worse as the rack rate is $359 for a standard room. If you're Plat you will almost always get a room upgrade at the Marquis if they have one available.
