Hi All, We are one of those who got sucked into the time share presentation with HGVC in 2017 and bought a 3400 points deal for $13K. Not sure if it was a good or bad deal but that is water under the bridge. But I now have 2 problems.

1. Bonus points: They gave me 13K bonus points which I am supposed to use by October this year. Has anyone had any luck asking them to extend these? I can transfer to Hilton Honors but that seems like a poor value.

2. Grand Fiesta Americana Cabo:
Has anyone used this resort? It might turn out to be an expensive proposition as they have $95 per person per day for the all inclusive program. We will probably just pay up considering that we are a blind couple and going around shopping for groceries in a new city doesn't sound like a great idea. Plus we are on vacation. I can only hope the restaurants are worth it.

1) You can use your bonus points to pay maintenance fees at the rate of 1 BP = $0.10. You can also use them for RCI reservations, as long as you book before they expire. You can book RCI out two years in advance.

2) That resort gets very good reviews, and the AI is not mandatory. You can pick and choose the days you want AI, or you can just pay a le carte at the resort or cook yourself or go off resort. Your choice.

We have been there many times and it is a great resort. I highly recommend it. We have booked again next year March 7-14 for our annual trip during whale season. I would suggest you book over Valentines Day (or another time is fine too). You don't need to purchase AI. We have never but some people like it. I do recommend renting a car to get around and drive to the restaurants in Cabo San Lucas. They have some fabulous restaurants (some of our favourites). But we (and others can give you recommendations on car rentals and the like to ensure an enjoyable trip). Btw, you will find a Costco, Walmart and Home Depot very near the resort.

I think they would need a driver to go with that car as the OP said they are a blind couple.

as the OP said they are a blind couple.

Sorry, I missed that detail. That then changes my recommendation. I would recommend taking the AI then.

I'm an owner and like it a lot. ;-) The AI is good and includes liquor and 24 hour room service. There is a shuttle into town that is inexpensive and includes the return trip and there are cabs there as well. The resort is on the ocean, so you hear the sea in many restaurants and rooms. There are also golf carts that can take you around the resort, if you like.

Thanks everyone. I will report back on how the trip goes...

We have an accepted offer on a 2 bed at SW but won't have it in time to use the points in Sept. Would you be willing to sell me 2,500 points?

I wrote up an article about bonus points. Was going to ask how to see about getting it made into a sticky, LOL!
I'll see if I can post it here if you'd like.
