Any Netflix members here who have purchased a Roku box to watch movies and TV episodes?

Wondering about the quality of the picture and if it was it hard to set up? Also,
about the quality of the selection library.

Richard

Hi Richard, we have it. The quality is fine, it was very easy to set up. We have it hooked up through our wireless router. We have found that it has slowed down our Internet connection. As far as the library goes there are a lot of movies to choose from but most of them are pretty old. If I were to give it a 1 out of 5 rating it would be a 2.5. When I asked why they didn't have newer stuff they said that they don't have the rights to the newer movies yet. The movies have to go through the theater, then Pay 4 View, then DVD's and then finally to instant watch. We still have our regular Netflix subscription. The instant watch doesn't cost you anything more monthly for it you just pay for the box. We watch the newer titles on DVD and watch the older stuff through the instant watch.

seems you can get your netflix movies via an xbox360 now....

which for me is far more appealing than a unitask box for the tv!

I am verry happy with mine too. I have a super fast 30/5 internet connection and don't notice any slowdown. Picture quality is near DVD for me. If you have a slow connection where it cannot sustain 1mb/s it will lower the quality. It tests the speed before it plays anything.

There is enough content to keep me happy and it's a far better deal than $15/month for a premium or even buying 2 pay per views.

I was looking for a subscription based service not a pay per view and there are plenty of family friendly titles I watch with my kids along with old TV shows I grew up with like Sliders.

I thought about getting a 360 but:
1) the Roku is a very simple device simple enough for my kids to operate
2) I won't be tempted to buy $60 games to get more functionality out of it
3) we already have a modded Xbox and Wii
